<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-F_Y7roox3IM/WorXdXnOviI/AAAAAAABSaE/lb6DMlIaMek2jr0uta-wiwoicrQp5C9cACHMYCw/s1600/1519047486310.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-F_Y7roox3IM/WorXdXnOviI/AAAAAAABSaE/lb6DMlIaMek2jr0uta-wiwoicrQp5C9cACHMYCw/s320/1519047486310.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Thanet District Council posted a long-winded press release which is contained below describing the last occurrences for Chris Wells as leader of Thanet District Council.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Apart from Chris Wells and a few of his cabinet colleagues I doubt there'll be many tears shed, Chris Wells and his co UKIP colleagues were elected in the main not only because of their right wing views but because they claimed that they would be strongly supporting the campaign to have Manston Airport reopened and not as he latterly supported a housing estate.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">To councillor Wells credit I feel that during his time in office as leader there have been fewer financial calamities than has been seen in other administration's but really he should have gone a long time ago if he stood on a platform of Supporting Manston and then quickly folded to the propaganda of outsiders he should have still stood aside for one of his colleagues who was capable of following election promises.<br />

<b><span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: x-small;">NEWS RELEASE</span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: x-small;">Thanet District Council Leader, Cllr Chris Wells and Cllr Bob Bayford (Leader of the Conservative group), met on Friday 9 February 2018 to discuss the changed group arrangements within the Council Chamber. Cllr Bayford indicated as Leader of the largest group he would move to form a fresh administration. Cllr Wells agreed to step aside to minimise disruption and maintain stability at the council by ensuring a vote for a new Leader without the disruption of a vote of no confidence.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: x-small;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: x-small;">Cllr Bayford said: "This is an appropriate way to recognise the changed council groupings and a sensible way forward following the fault lines that emerged across the Chamber during the Local Plan vote of 18 January 2018."</span></div>
<div dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: x-small;">Cllr Wells has today (Monday 19 February) given formal notice of resignation as of Wednesday 28 February, allowing the calling of an extraordinary council meeting to take place on Thursday 1 March to elect a new Leader for Thanet District Council. Deputy Leader, Cllr Lin Fairbrass will be Acting Leader for the period between the resignation taking effect and the results of the Leadership election.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: x-small;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: x-small;">Cllr Wells said: "It has been a rare privilege to lead this council through some difficult times, facing declining budgets and increasing demand for services. My resignation recognises a simple fact of political life, that an administration needs to win votes to get policy through, and an administration supported by 13 or so of 56 Councillors would be a highly unstable proposition. The uncertainty that would create damages the smooth running of the council, something so many have worked so hard to maintain in challenging times."</span></div>
<div dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div dir="ltr">
<span style="font-family: "courier new" , "courier" , monospace; font-size: x-small;">Given the next stage will be a Full Council decision to elect a new Leader, neither Cllr Wells nor the council will comment further until the result of that election is known.</span><br />

<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0PRkr2S_RUY/WnyAVAgEcWI/AAAAAAABSNk/QZ_d9-dSAXQXkWBnkhfZ9GFwiniZcCY7ACKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20180208_160539619.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="180" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0PRkr2S_RUY/WnyAVAgEcWI/AAAAAAABSNk/QZ_d9-dSAXQXkWBnkhfZ9GFwiniZcCY7ACKgBGAs/s320/IMG_20180208_160539619.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Chris Wells in last week's Gazette says “The numbers add up, we must build more homes on the site of the airport” (Manston). I myself don't share such unquestioning belief, in my opinion, I feel that figures can be deceptive I'm sure there are a few figures that Chris Wells would question, particularly those relating to the number of his fellow members of UKIP in Thanet who would be quite happy, were Chris Wells to do the thing they require him, to resign.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Assuming that Chris Well’s view is correct, that there is no evidence that an airport would be sustainable, why doesn't he just roll over and allow airport people to be given a chance, particularly as he was elected on basis that he would support Manston. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Based on information provided by my Google home mini device, I understand that the UK average household has 2.3 people and 1.2 people working and each household has almost whole car 95% of it. So if that is correct, we can look forward to the prospect of an extra 7,000 patients for Thanet’s broken health service, 3,000 cars crowding roads to Westwood. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">As for jobs to support those buying or renting homes on Manston’s, new housing estate Stone HIll Park, we’ve yet to see the nearby commercial site vacated by Pfizer fully recover, I can only imagine that for Stone Hill Park housing development to prosper it will need the new Parkway Station so people can commute to jobs in London.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">What has always amazed me about the debate over the Manston Airport site is that nobody has suggested anything other than housing or airport use, admittedly It would be incredibly expensive to rip up Manston’s bombproof runway which I guess is why the developers of the new housing estate are featuring a “heritage” runway.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span> <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I don’t think there have been any significant material changes to the local economy or geography since he was elected, so maybe having been elected on a policy he now believes wrong, the least he could do is resign as leader and a member of UKIP which would free him up to have private lunch meetings, such as the one he had in November with Ray Mallon without all that outrageous nonsense about council protocol.</span><br />

I recently turned 60 and inconceivable as it seems to me the world has changed in ways I never thought possible<br />
<br />
Looking back it's as if I was born into a world that was black and white, since that was the predominant available hue in both print television and film, and back in the past, with less Media news was also clearer with no spin<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Vv4ceebHTEE/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Vv4ceebHTEE?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe></div>
<br />
News outlets from the BBC to our own local newspapers, have made news less important than commentary I guess because we can all comment with out awkward facts getting in the way of our mood swings.<br />
<br />
The Isle of Thanet Gazette commentator plain Jane epitomises the sort of thing I mean, Friday's newspaper she apparently couldn't find why the Thanet Way had a 50 mile an hour speed limit I myself got the information in seconds by mumbling into my phone something like ok Google kent highways Thanet Way speed restriction, wallop in a split second up popped a Tweet from the relevant authority, and the facts<br />
<br />
Still also interesting to read plain Jane's views on what she considered sacred in Britain which included a judicial system freedom of speech equality compassion a jar of Marmite but sadly no mention of democracy which it's no surprise given the not inconsiderable whinging or bremoaning about brexit once again, get over it and move on for God's sake<br />
<br />
Anyway moving on from small town commentary the most disturbing thing apart from me realising I'm 60 and I may not live forever is the shock that the establishment intelligentsia whatever we might call them have nothing but utter contempt for the majority of British people who have come to the honourable conclusion they have no wish to continue to be ruled by a committee of greedy and delusional Eurocrat's<br />
<br />
Still these people so keen remaining tethered to Europe are affluent middle class people who haven't seen their jobs taken away by cheap labour or experienced the challenge of sending their children to school where English is no longer the first language of significant numbers of children<br />

<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0Cdrlrv0LPI/V3T_9vYv4cI/AAAAAAABBUM/qJE3fdYiRSEXQCzQoo9e9Mp5cRIbu5TZACLcB/s1600/gale%2Bemerges%2Bfrom%2Bt%2Bmay%2Bspeech.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0Cdrlrv0LPI/V3T_9vYv4cI/AAAAAAABBUM/qJE3fdYiRSEXQCzQoo9e9Mp5cRIbu5TZACLcB/s200/gale%2Bemerges%2Bfrom%2Bt%2Bmay%2Bspeech.JPG" width="108" /></a></div>
It's not often I agree with sir Roger Gale MP however he has just sent out a statement* praising Mrs May's speech given at the launch of a campaign to become leader of Tory Party, as one of the most powerful and impressive speech he has ever heard.<br />
<br />
After a week of extreme turbulence Teresa Mays launch of a bid to become Prime Minister and leader of the Conservative Party offers I think a ray of sunshine, this I think will be a view shared by anyone who sees or has seen Theresa Mays campaign speech today. She makes Boris Johnson despite his obvious talent look like a bumbling buffoon in comparison.<br />
<br />
I think if the Conservatives have any sense they will elect Theresa May, as far as I can see it she's probably the only person with the honesty and integrity to get the United Kingdom through the coming months and years as we extricate ourselves from the EU.<br />
<br />
PS as I finish writing this I see that Boris Johnson has had the good manners to embrace defeat.<br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">
<u><b>*Theresa May – Statement from Sir Roger Gale MP</b></u></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">
<br />
<b></b><u></u><u></u></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">
I have just returned from the launch of Theresa May`s bid to become the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and for the first time in what has been a bad week I feel a real sense of hope where before there was despair. <u></u><u></u></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">
I have been involved in politics for more than 50 years and Mrs. May`s speech was one of the most powerful, and impressive for its quiet dignity that I have ever heard. <u></u><u></u></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">
We are reminded that while she is determined to reflect the view of the British people as expressed in the referendum, and to negotiate our exit from the EU on the very best terms possible, there is also a government agenda designed to create and strengthen social justice and equality that has to be pursued and that she intends to spend the rest of this Parliament, until 2020 (and beyond) doing exactly that. <u></u><u></u></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">
Earlier in the week I said that we now needed, to take us through a very difficult period in our history, a leader with vision, courage and determination that I had found missing in the Vote Leave campaign. I believe that in Theresa May we have found someone who has emerged with the experience, skill and ability to reunite not just or even the Conservative Party but the whole Country. She accepts the reality of the vote and she is ready to bat for Britain. <u></u><u></u></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px;">
I hope that we can now rally behind her and make the United Kingdom work again on the world stage. </div>

<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-m3gtSheFIjA/V0cJrqz2q1I/AAAAAAAA7a0/WZfw8v7NC3UUMPR6apFf59i7bIzWE6fQACKgB/s1600/IMG_20160526_153231.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="247" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-m3gtSheFIjA/V0cJrqz2q1I/AAAAAAAA7a0/WZfw8v7NC3UUMPR6apFf59i7bIzWE6fQACKgB/s320/IMG_20160526_153231.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Just what sort of people inhabit the United Kingdom it seems to me that if the media are right and Cameron and Osborne are also correct then everything just comes down to a few pounds per annum or whether the economy grows by one or two or three or four or 5 percent.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The European remain campaign appear to believe that we are all totally without any principles, freedom, sovereignty, count for nothing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
However forget money, forget migration (the other cliché), how about the petty but sinister intrusion into our lives by the <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3608766/Netflix-Amazon-scrap-TV-programmes-European-films-EU-rules.html">European Union which now believes that suppliers of on demand media such as such as Netflix should have now have to have a quota of European content.</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Imagine when the Eurocrats then focus on news media, presumably newspaper such as the Torygraph will have to accommodate qouta of left right and centre political opinion, imagine the socialist morning star newspaper wouldn't be able report on its miniscule revolutionary supporters.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Clearly deranged and powercrazed Eurocrats feel they have to impose cultural quotas, ignoring the fact that currently individuals such as I can freely choose to pay for entertainment, I pay for Netflix because they produce and distribute quality programming which without loony euro bullies already provides content from both Europe and the rest of the world.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
By what logic is it necessary for the Euro state, to try and manipulate even what we watch when we relax, it's this sort of intrusion that inclines individuals to question why we need there EU.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-p6BtM0s1fdA/V0NhYyYfpDI/AAAAAAAA7YM/7nymLmVHMaIUlorcpuoUv8he3-Y-AETbACLcB/s1600/new%2Bkent%2Bmarket.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-p6BtM0s1fdA/V0NhYyYfpDI/AAAAAAAA7YM/7nymLmVHMaIUlorcpuoUv8he3-Y-AETbACLcB/s400/new%2Bkent%2Bmarket.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is 10 years since I started this web blog and to be honest something's have changed for the good and some things are just the same as ever.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My original postings were often concerned with the Turner contemporary gallery and the controversy that surrounded it's creation and completion , the gallery has been a roaring success even with cynical old gits such as myself, although perhaps the best for down market proles such as me has been the resurrection of dreamland.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Margate is better than it was 10 years ago although that said there have been down sides, not least the suggestion of misappropriation of EU funds, the loss of the royal school for the deaf and of course the Conservatives alleged inability to get their sums right when accounting for election expenses</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Still on the whole it seems that Thanet council is being run slightly better than in the past, which may well be due to the inexperience of UKIP in running the council.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I think councillor Chris Wells has done a good job given the naivety of some of the members of UKIP as for the Manston issue, some of those UKIP quitters also don't realise that Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will be the proposed new housing estate for Manston god willing never!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As you will appreciate I'm a little out of practice on blogging , but for my next blog I will be touching on brexit and the incredible campaign of Lies and interference from foreigners in what is a discussion of British sovereignty for now, I will just say this it is a measure of how corrupt this country has become that the best argument David Cameron and George Osborne can come up with is the cost to the economy, they clearly place no value on independence or our sovereign rights, the generations who sacrificed themselves for this country, do they really think 3 to 6% shrinkage to the economy, matters a toss when freedom and principal are at stake.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And really if they Osborne and Cameron gave a flying er..... for ordinary hard working people would they really be in the Tory party, I think not. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Till the next time.</div>

I've been blogging for a long time admittedly recently I've not had the time or indeed the inclination and God knows there has been little to inspire this grumpy old man to comment.<br />
<br />
Still I am struck by just how much banality and mediocrity there is in public Life. I have to say that Rodger Gale fired my imagination last week with his recent communication regarding the European Union which unfortunately was very much sitting on the fence eventually tipping over toward prison Europe, such is his passion sir Rodger won't be involving himself in either campaign, has Gale ever stood out in a crowd?<br />
<br />
In contrast Thanet South MP Craig Mackinlay seems to have been quite busy recently, in his view from Westminster in the Gazette he mentions that he has just visited Israel, having been invited by the conservative friends of , we of course can only imagine the tough questions that Craig asked in his meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu about Israel's merciless bombing of civilians in Gaza 2000+killed 100,000+ injured and more carnage with homes, schools and hospitals destroyed. <br />
<br />
Still moving along Craig did stand up during last week's PM's question time and ask whether Dave would like to visit Ramsgate and then mentioned a Ramsgate PR group,in other business Craig revealed that he's been involved in a keep Britain tidy Project clean for the Queen , which requires politicians and presumably celebs to briefly to don a hi viz jacket, while gullible citizens get on and clean the streets, a job the local council have been paid to do.<br />
<br />
Finally Craig Mackinlay has shown what a man of principle he is, we all know he has previously been a member of UKIP probably the reason he was chosen as conservative candidate for Thanet South, standing against Nigel Farage, so it is of no surprise that he has thanked the PM for giving him the chance to vote to leave the European Union. I can't help thinking that without his former political party UKIP we wouldn't be having a referendum and to add to his misery perhaps you might consider the question of how much the Conservative Party actually spent in his political campaign anyway that's all for now although I understand expenses are being scrutinised.Tony Flaighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15212662248741515725noreply@blogger.com25tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25954340.post-7893222546996665892016-01-11T20:03:00.002+00:002016-01-11T20:32:19.558+00:00Thanet MP's Why can't they do more for the Royal School for the Deaf<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2lKFvkxO7wE/VpQKh7Ys98I/AAAAAAAAMe8/PBAvZNJDpj0/s1600/service%2Busers.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="73" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2lKFvkxO7wE/VpQKh7Ys98I/AAAAAAAAMe8/PBAvZNJDpj0/s400/service%2Busers.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
I may be wrong but I get the impression that both Rodger Gale and his colleague Craig Mackinlay MP have given up any hope of the Royal School for the Deaf being saved<br />
<br />
Both seem to put the argument that government cannot continue to throw money at the school since it has been run into bankruptcy.<br />
<br />
Clearly it seems to be a no-brainer that you'd never want to employ the previous management of the school in a similar institution.<br />
<br />
Still it is clear to me that children at the school and young adults are victims of a harsh ruthless system with no compassion but will still need provision for care and education and it therefore seems ridiculous that a new management and organisation couldn't be set up to take over the bricks and mortar and employ the excellent staff.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.facebook.com/mackinlay4souththanet/?fref=nf">I looked at Craig Mackinlays thoughts of the 23rd December</a> concerning the Royal School for the Deaf and I found his language a bit too mechanical and lacking sensitivity perhaps I have misinterpreted his words<b> "service users" </b>(3rd paragraph from end) if so my apologies to Craig McKinley<br />
<br />
Still the diminishing number of "service users" had a voice on Radio Kent this morning in the form of the mother of a teenage boy who is blind and deaf but has found a home at at the Royal School.<br />
<br />
An hour later after the item was broadcast it was announced that David Bowie had passed on and that I found disturbing inasmuch it made me feel older realising that I'm approaching 60 this year, life is short.<br />
<br />
However on the drive home, the thing that dominated my thoughts was the realisation our local MP's or as I sometimes think of them publicly funded protectors of wealth, privilege establishment could do more.<br />
<br />
It seems the government has endless money to waste on pomp and ceremony perhaps one of the most shameful things(2015) I've ever seen in my life was the respect and fuss surrounding the funeral of the Saudi king last year, flags on government buildings lowered to half mast and probably many hundreds of thousands of pounds spent on flying out dignitaries such as Royals and politicians to pay their respect.<br />
<br />
We are a country that can afford to let technology companies, banks, manufacturers, construction firms, simply refuse to pay tax but how sad that loose change cannot be found to clear the debts of the Royal School for the Deaf and a new competent management structure put in place.<br />
<br />
We can live without MP's who can't change the world, save Manston or move mountains but they could be heroes if they save this school, the money could come from anyone of the hundreds of tax avoiding suited CEO's or their businesses.Tony Flaighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15212662248741515725noreply@blogger.com22tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25954340.post-25985635704093252922015-10-16T16:44:00.000+01:002015-10-16T17:18:28.420+01:00TDC Chief Executive accuses long standing MP of making unfounded allegations<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<b><span style="font-size: large;">I am now obtaining counsel's advice to consider what action should be taken to support the Officer's defamed by your publication,</span></b> the words in the final paragraph of Madeline Homer's letter referring to an email letter sent to council leader Chris Wells, in which she claims Sir Rodger Gail MP has defamed various officer's<br />
<br />
Crikey what could mild mannered Sir Rodger have possibly done to upset Thanet's council top bod, not much in my view. In writing to Chris Wells, about the compulsory purchase order of Manston Sir Rodger Gale did mention concerns over a the previous CPO of Dreamland, which might have resulted in over caution concerning the Manston Airport CPO.<br />
<br />
The worst that Sir Rodger has done is to perhaps, I think, suggest that the negotiation for the Dreamland CPO could have been better. ( I would of course normally quote Sir Rodger directly however who knows whether or not Thanet's boss might not wish to spend more tax payers money on lawyers)<br />
<br />
Like it or not Sir Rodger Gale was elected to office, and has done a good job over the years, I doubt many feel it appropriate for the appointed chief of Thanet council to be using public money to censor correspondence of local MP even if he is critical of the leader of the council Chris Wells.<br />
<br />
PS I did ask Medellin Homer's office if it was ok for me to comment however as you might imagine I've had no response at the time of writing.<br />
<br />
I also asked yesterday if they could actually name the council officers who have been defamed and of course, how much this legal hoo-ha was costing. <b>no answer as yet!</b> my guess and it's entirely speculative and detached from reality but once counsel (a lawyer to you and me) has stopped laughing, thought how much he can charge, factored in that the generous taxpaying residents of Thanet will be footing the bill, who knows it could be thousands!<br />

Rain stops play at dreamland, due to heavy rain and possible <u>lightning</u>, about 1.50 pm today security bods removed the public from the amusement park, and into the entrance area.<br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Still on the plus side is been a great day so far, with a test train on the scenic railway, I assume punters such as myself and grand kids will be back in the park shortly.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
No refunds are available the park is technically open although visitors have been turfed out and not allowed back in at this stage. 14.26<br />
<br />
Sun is out and so are paying guests , outside the amusement park with still no concrete information, when or if it will open.<br />
<br />
@15:01 the sun has been out for ten minutes and Dreamland park is still not open and still no news as why or when the park reopens.<br />
<br />
With no information left the park @15:20.<br />
<br />
In my view this situation was badly handled, it may well have made sense to evacuate the park during heavy rain for safety reasons but not informing<br />
customers what is happening and when the park might reopen is inexcusable.<br />
<br />
I visited the park at the weekend and was very impressed with everything, the staff were very professional and helpful, the mood was good enhanced by various entertainment, facilities clean, the rides in good condition, overall I thought the experience as pleasurable as any park.<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NT9Bm3bZSPM/VcONDENU9mI/AAAAAAAAMWc/7Dg-TMGTKlY/s1600/tower%2Blights%2Bmanston.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NT9Bm3bZSPM/VcONDENU9mI/AAAAAAAAMWc/7Dg-TMGTKlY/s400/tower%2Blights%2Bmanston.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Cutting through the back roads early this morning on the way into Margate, my attention was drawn to work at Manston airport to create a lorry park, it struck me in the dim light, as a somewhat weird and sinister sight, a line of tower lights have been placed along on the runway.<br />
<br />
As I drove down Spitfire Way, I'm thinking, how the hell are hundreds of trucks going to negotiate their way to the airport. (At its peak more 6,800 trucks have used the channel tunnel in one day).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Spitfire Way is a signifcant route out of Thanet travelled by many of us, who have to go outside the area for work it looks like commuters and those who live in Manston will be stuffed ,still the fat cat Tory masters in Maidstone and Etonian low lifes in Downing St. or indeed property speculators wont be losing any sleep.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It's some time since I last posted but the creation of a lorry park, at Manston is worth a mention, my main thought is that, this may not have been possible without the Leadership of Kent County Council, Paul Carter, has I understand has often suggested such a thing and has now got his way. So far his administrations has had many achievements traffic management is not one that comes to mind, in fact it's the controversies I recall, such as the failed broadcasting project, poor children services and fat payoffs to staff for reasons that have never been explained.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The background to the chaos at our channel ports, is the UK governments ineffectual reaction to repeated attacks by French activists. I think the Labour had it right the other day (not that they did Jack **** when in government) but its about time the government demanded compensation from France.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Part of the current disruption to cross channel traffic is caused by the plight of migrants, and I can understand why, they are so determined to get to the UK, however when we see the news, perhaps a question to ask is why are refuges are sleeping in tents and shacks, France is a rich country couldn't they do better.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My theory is that the limp attempts to keep channel crossings open are part of the French authorities conducting a covert economic war, some of the recent disruption has come from industrial disputes, it seems that France allows special interest groups to run riot, can anyone imagine Kent police to allowing trade unionist to blockade roads with mountains of burning car tyres such has recently been the case.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When will Cameron and his cronies man up and sort out France. It looks like Thanet is about to be cut off by the lunatic scheme to divert lorries 60 Miles from the channel ports.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

Although I noticed a SWP member (Socialist workers party that no longer take part in elections) apparently organising things.<br />
<br />
From talking to people at the protest I understand those taking part were mainly in support of the labour candidate Will Scobie, although there was a broad spectrum of left wing activists.<br />
<br />
The labour party are not hiding their contempt for the democratic system by using their stop Farage slogan on campaign literature, so I wonder whether they ought to be a little more open in what appears to be corporation between themselves and the far left.<br />
<br />
It seems a bit rich, that Labour give the impression that they have become a moderate and responsible party, with all the journalist in town, you would think that some of them might just scratch the surface to see what lies underneath.<br />
<br />
UKIP as a political party has really been created by the lack of debate from mainstream politicians such as Labour Liberal Democrat and Conservative, unwilling to have an honest debate over the european union.<br />
<br />
Seems that Labour are trying to paint UKIP as a bunch of thugs, when in actual fact they themselves created a climate in which honest debate was unavailable.<br />
<br />
Sadly mainstream opinion is with UKIP, because Labour in particular have deserted ordinary people a long time ago, and in the process betrayed their own working class based background by gifting jobs, welfare and housing to people with no connection an no loyalty to the UK.<br />
<br />
Labour only cares about jobs for the boys the party elite, forget the working class.<br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UzIxLYSndNo/VUKFMbb3H6I/AAAAAAAAMSg/Ma6QVXi8wDI/s1600/ross%2Bkemp.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UzIxLYSndNo/VUKFMbb3H6I/AAAAAAAAMSg/Ma6QVXi8wDI/s1600/ross%2Bkemp.JPG" height="277" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You may remember actor and presenter Ross Kemp as one of the Mitchell bruvvers in East Enders and latterly what I take to be infotainment programme's on satellite TV about "gangs" "war" and other such testosterone fueled malarkey, anyway luckily for the Scobie fighting for Saff Fannit, it turns out that the TV celebrity happens to be a life long labour bod, <a href="http://www.kentnews.co.uk/news/south_thanet_race_now_actor_ross_kemp_attacks_ukip_s_nigel_farage_1_4053432">who despite having little association with Thanet now wants to get involved.</a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So what's burning up Labour luvvie Ross, seems UKIP have (shock horror), targeted Thanet South as a likely seat for Nigel Farage, </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I doubt that Ross has over-loaded his brain with the thought that Labour has it seems itself cynically groomed young Will Scobie, first I presume hardly out of education and probably no real work experience, he was given an easy seat on the local council, then shortly after made Mayor of Margate(shows some contempt for Margate), and then selected for the county council,<b> targeted just like Farage targeted for winnable seat.</b> </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A cynical move by Will Scobie and the labour party targeting a seat which is loaded generally toward the conservatives but aware the right wing vote would be split by UKIP.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

Dismal Labour and other thoughts on Thanet general election<br />
<br />
Is this the most depressing election ever, despite all the assurances to the contrary, I'm sure any rational person has dismissed the idea that Ed Milliband is tough enough, or that his retched crew of no good charlatans are up to governing.<br />
<br />
I've had little time to study the form of Thanet's contestants in the race to parliament, however sad as it is Thanet North will only ever see Gale displaced by the passage of time, good knows why but that is how it is.<br />
<br />
Thanet South is certainly s mixed bag the best candidate being Russ Timpson, and i don't just say that because he's the liberal democrat, certainty otherwise the choice is dismal, the Tory previously a UKIP man, of the rest Ian Driver the Green candidate is the only other stand out man, if for nothing else exposing some of the less than wholesome activities and shocking events of the local council.<br />
<br />
Will Scobie has for me shown himself to be the surprise non-entity, the best so far from him appears to be, that desperate plea for people to vote tactically, a tactic deplored generally by mediocre politicians who've little or nothing to offer.<br />
<br />
It seems such waste, still finally we've the UKIP party leader, Nigel Farage it's difficult to comment on, since the media in general and state funded BBC journalist in particular have been busting their balls to discredit and demonize Farage ever since the European elections.<br />
<br />
I think Thanet south electorate have a real choice and if anything it's wide open, they can act like sheep and be herded up like sheep by Labours young inexperienced Will Scobie, (who as I understand has rarely if ever had a real job that didn't involve working for the labour party) , or they could go for some of the exotic, perhaps the passionate "man of the people" Ian Driver, maybe the voters of Thanet could, dare I say it challenge the media bigotry and vote for Farage because if no else, he at least has had the courage to question and raise the concerns of those who would like Britain to be a sovereign country not ruled from Germany.<br />
<br />
Finally you could make a completely rational choice and vote Liberal Democrat, and acknowledge the accomplishments of the liberals in government, lower tax, better opportunity's for children and real help for children from poor backgrounds, or why not just go mad and vote for the know nothing & no experience Scobie, despite all the doors and orchestrated rise to labour parliamentary candidate, ask yourself this what has young will achieved. Errrrr.....<br />
<br />Tony Flaighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15212662248741515725noreply@blogger.com35tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25954340.post-68461166665152375632015-03-31T23:37:00.000+01:002015-04-01T10:38:18.401+01:00Thanet South - The general election 2015 the first day<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FgKlgq17rBo/VRshCdgQh0I/AAAAAAAAMRo/Lcb3p6XOsM4/s1600/SCO%2BBOT.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FgKlgq17rBo/VRshCdgQh0I/AAAAAAAAMRo/Lcb3p6XOsM4/s1600/SCO%2BBOT.JPG" height="193" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Thanet South appears to be the most interesting parliamentary seat in the country, it has a rich biodiversity, candidates from the weird, comic, boring, environmentally friendly, inexperienced idealistic socialist wonder kid, through to ex UKIP member now Tory and the real McCoy and the plain bonkers in my opinion.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I doubt if any parliamentary contest has ever been as diverse as that, which will be taking place in Thanet, the conservatives party held the seat till this week with Laura Sandys who throughout her tenure remained competent, rational and sane, lord knows, which of these highly individualistic candidates will win, the two main contenders appear to be Will Scobie, who as far as I can tell has never had what most of us consider a "proper job" (anything outside of politics) and probably too young to have any life experience and then there's Farage plenty work and I imagine life. Tough choice?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This general election is not as clear cut, as others have been, however it would seem most likely that the conservatives will be returned to government, one way or another, since the idea of labour holding the reins of office, would be akin to putting a alcoholic in charge an off licence. So my money's on Farage rather than Scobie and who knows it might do Will some good, instead of churning out meaningless predictable tweets for Labour, devoid of emotion, he might develop some depth.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'm sure it won't take the electorate too long, to work out the implications, to this country's economic stability and perhaps even more importantly, the security and defence of this country, I don't doubt for a second that those who've thought about how things were back 2010, will appreciate what the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats have done for the country.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This thought might be the biggest problem for Labour, Ed Miliband can stab his own brother in the back, using the power of the trade union movement to win the Labour leadership contest, then it seems that small matter of breaking apart the United Kingdom and doing a quick deal with treacherous Scottish nationalist, just so that Ed can play prime minister for a few months, until his colleagues remove him, could be quite likely, unthinkable maybe although possible, we could see the dismantling of the country's nuclear defence, at a time, when the world is becoming more dangerous particularly with Vladimir Putin happy to standby while assassins dispose of rivals and allows his troops to invade Ukraine and while the Islamic world are tearing down civilisation.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here in Thanet UKIP represent a continuing concern, and as far as I can tell the average person is as disturbed as ever by the shear (or sheer)* numbers of migrants and lack of control, despite the endless attacks by establishment journalist from London.<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aJlhZiR7AQI/VOtPApTLqjI/AAAAAAAAMPs/Qme6H6H7-nA/s1600/ukipper.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aJlhZiR7AQI/VOtPApTLqjI/AAAAAAAAMPs/Qme6H6H7-nA/s1600/ukipper.JPG" height="139" width="320" /></a></div>
No big surprise watching last nights "Ukippers", the BBC's documentary exposing Thanet South UKIP. The documentary makers got what I assume they came for, <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-31565770">a particularly outrageous example of irrational racism</a>, from Cllr Rozanne Duncan.<br />
<br />
I get the impression that UKIP bods have been on their best behaviour, while being filmed, still if you point a camera long enough you'll get what you're after. I imagine some many many hours eventually they hit journalistic pay dirt as Rozanne came out with, what is to most of us I guess complete bollix.<br />
<br />
Anyway it shows how politics is, run by ordinary people, not professionals, so sometimes theysay what they think or talk utter bollix, I dare say if you'd point a camera long enough at Labour or Conservatives you'd come up with some similar outrage, and if you didn't notice members of both of those parties have, since the last local election, each had a member make shocking homophobic comments.<br />
<br />
I've certainly heard racist comments from UKIP politicians, and I'm sure the public is more than aware that some Ukippers are from the dregs, BNP, NF and similar. However how will people vote in the General Election, those who are sick and tired of the dominance and subversion of British interest by the European Union led by Merkel.<br />
<br />
It's a tough choice, Ukip are offering to cut us free from Europe, Cameron Clegg and Milliband have done nothing to stop our British democracy being slowly dismantled by undemocratic Eurocrats.<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sQGmdUolRWo/VNTBRNA6RiI/AAAAAAAAMPE/WFscf2vtKGY/s1600/IMG_20150206_132348.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sQGmdUolRWo/VNTBRNA6RiI/AAAAAAAAMPE/WFscf2vtKGY/s1600/IMG_20150206_132348.jpg" height="200" width="108" /></a></div>
This is just a personal observation, but have we all gone mad <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-31159594">Julian Assange</a> the wikeleaks boss is subject to an extradition warrant from Sweden, resulting from accusations of sex crimes naturally he has done what any normal man would, faced with such accusations.<br />
<br />
Yes who wouldn't immediately head for the Ecuadorian embassy the outpost of a little known south american country that is so insignificant most of us wouldn't know whether or not it was democratic or like most places in the world bent as a nine Bob note.<br />
<br />
What has Mr Assange, got to fear from a democratic country such as Sweden.<br />
<br />
More importantly why is the British tax payer left paying £10,000,000<br />
so far for policemen to stand outside on the off chance he leaves the embassy.<br />
<br />
Time to send in the SAS I think.Tony Flaighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15212662248741515725noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25954340.post-42533247669135604162015-01-24T10:21:00.000+00:002015-01-24T10:37:08.410+00:00What local consultation - Working peoples views don't count<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HqVCAkdYS8I/U9gc0e7PApI/AAAAAAAALfg/cKO4l_n2J9U/s512/Manston.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HqVCAkdYS8I/U9gc0e7PApI/AAAAAAAALfg/cKO4l_n2J9U/s512/Manston.JPG" height="172" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I just wonder what sort of consultation <a href="http://thanet.gov.uk/the-thanet-magazine/get-involved/consultation/2015/local-plan-consultation/">(The local plan)</a> Thanet council are running since they appear to offer most opportunity to the unemployed, unemployable and retired, given that their drop in consultations are mainly held during working hours suited for societies drop outs.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The location for these consultations or "Drop in" sessions which number is six in total have two in Margate and two in Broadstairs, Ramsgate is given parity with Birchington, Thanet's retirement home having just one session and those in Minster, forget about it.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Personally I am not a great believer in public consultation since I imagine the authors of such grandiose plans, have already considered the insanity of building a further 12,000 homes in Thanet and deemed it as perfectly rational.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Finally maybe it is a good idea to not seek the views of Ramsgate people assuming they act in the same self-seeking way as Labour counsllors from that town with regards to Manston airport.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
PS I find it hard to imagine that in the time up to 2031which this plan covers that 12000 jobs will be created to finance 12000 homes, I've lived in thanet for 55 years and I don't expect 12,000 jobs have been created in that time, so it looks like this local plan is based on taxpayer money to provide the finance for and increased population which might explain such a crazy situation requiring Thanet to build on a massive scale.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
PPS The idea that Thanet council officers are capable of planning anything seems a big ask, and assuming that this plan is a real dogs breakfast of opportunity for local land owners and greedy developers, it probably wont effect the authors since they probably earn more than enough for nice retirement home in southern europe. </div>

<b style="font-size: 16.2847232818604px;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;">Liberal Democrats publish 10-Point Plan, calling for a referendum on Manston Airport's future.</span></span></b></div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;"></span></span> </div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;">In response to the chaos at Thanet District Council reported by local media this week, the two Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidates for North and South Thanet – George Cunningham and Russ Timpson - launched a ten point plan today to put the future of Manston Airport on much more solid footing.</span></span></div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;"></span></span> </div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;">The core of this fresh Liberal Democrat initiative in Thanet calls for a referendum on the Manston Airport Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO), to be held at the same time as the 7 May 2015 General Election and District Council Elections.</span></span></div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;">Such a move would ensure that the people of Thanet could give a clear mandate to TDC to go ahead or not with the CPO, finishing the debate about its future once and for all. </span></span></div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;"></span></span> </div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;">The ten-point plan also lays out a very practical programme to bring more investor interest to Manston Airport and to engage the aviation industry directly in assessing its potential.</span></span></div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;"></span></span> </div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;">The Liberal Democrats are the only political party in Kent that unanimously supports Manston Airport becoming operational again.</span></span></div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;"></span></span> </div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;">Prospective MP for North Thanet, George Cunningham, said: "The compulsory purchase process must not die and should be separated from doubts concerning the RiverOak company. Manston airport can become an international success given proper visionary management based on the will to realise its potential".</span></span></div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;"></span></span> </div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;">Prospective MP for South Thanet, Russ Timpson, said: "We need to rise above the petty politics that is miring the future of the airport. We support a positive agenda with practical solutions. All political parties should work together in a transparent way to find a way forward".</span></span></div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;"></span></span> </div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;">Liberal Democrats believe it was a mistake that Riveroak was declared by Roger Gale MP as the "only show in town" to run the airport. Valuable time has been wasted in not finding a more suitable airport operator. Manston is a viable business as was witnessed earlier this year by Liberal Democrat efforts in getting Gulf investor interest in using Manston as the base of its European aircraft recycling operations. The Taiwanese also undertook a high profile visit to Manston at the invitation of George Cunningham and Russ Timpson to assess its potential as a freight hub for its goods.</span></span></div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;"></span></span> </div>
<div align="justify" style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16.2847232818604px;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica;"><span style="font-size: 9.6pt;">Given developments at the Thanet District Council, the Liberal Democrat team will also be making fresh efforts to find a suitable airport operator.</span></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dg-YrelucQw/U3iOTMUVKcI/AAAAAAAALbg/ZRySVyw_hjo/s1600/iris%2Bjohnson.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dg-YrelucQw/U3iOTMUVKcI/AAAAAAAALbg/ZRySVyw_hjo/s1600/iris%2Bjohnson.JPG" height="320" width="227" /></a></div>
Labour have surpassed themselves, at last night's extraordinary council meeting, subject Manston Airport, those expecting to have honest debate and facts, were disappointed, Cllr Iris Johnson, has once again allowed the council she leads to dodge any tough questions.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Cllr Iris Johnson, appears recently to have babbled on about River Oak not providing enough information as part of its offer to finance a compulsory purchase of the airport, despite the fact that the company in question refute this, as do others, who like you and I, suspect that labour are only looking to buy votes in Ramsgate.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Still more interesting is Cllr Scobie's intervention, who in my estimation has offered faint support for Manston so far <a href="http://bignewsmargate.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/clive-hart-declines-bbc-invitation-phew.html">( a bit like former Labour leader Clive Hart refusing help promote Manston )</a> anyway you can take Scobie,s storming out of the meeting as an act of principle or if you're a tad cynical, see it as an election stunt, with the general election only a few months away, and Labour apparently doing it's damndest to wreck the Airports chances, what better than to distance yourself from out of touch ancient colleagues, and take the moral highground as a tough independent, honest wonder kid.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ER-0k2aS7Xg/VJG7uAe834I/AAAAAAAAMOI/1f3-WSej7nA/s1600/scobie.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ER-0k2aS7Xg/VJG7uAe834I/AAAAAAAAMOI/1f3-WSej7nA/s1600/scobie.JPG" /></a></div>
Although many of us learn our politics, while working hard, bringing up families, paying tax and being rewarded by broken promises from the political charlatans who govern us, you may just think I'm being a bit mean, and you could be right, however as I understand, Mr Scobie has spent most of his young life working in politics or studying politics of which campaigning and presentation is the key to getting elected and just like sales and marketing you don't hold back when your trying to make a sale or in his case get your vote, so sidestepping his own party briefly is a mere part of his election campaign in my honest opinion.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
If Scobie is principled perhaps he could resign from Thanet local Labour party, few believe that Labour have done anything whatsoever to help the Airport, the deputy Labour leader made it quite clear that they would't apparently referring to River Oak "We are not going to do business with people like this.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Iris Johnson could answer this question, why should we trust anything she says on Manston Airport when her <a href="http://bignewsmargate.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/labour-leadership-deputy-does-best-to.html">deputy leader made it so clear his hostility to a CPO </a>yet remained in post during the process so far and finally how can we trust any so called independent advice paid for by the council when her colleagues and officers appear to have been so hostile.</div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Jpocml7OMbo/R4v37VUuzAI/AAAAAAAAAxI/HQAOm2ULG9E/s320/man1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Jpocml7OMbo/R4v37VUuzAI/AAAAAAAAAxI/HQAOm2ULG9E/s320/man1.JPG" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I imagine Thanet council will be going through the motions and doing it's level best to bury Manston <a href="http://democracy.thanet.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=151&MId=3925">at tonight's Cabinet meeting.</a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I rarely comment these days since Thanets council reputation for poor practice and slippery way of doing things behind closed doors, since I'm sure you like I are heartly sick.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The latest banality despite the well publicised and genuine offer to under right a Compulsory purchase order by River Oak, have been kicked into the long grass by the same "competent" officers who were no doubt a responsible for multi million pound f*** ups such as TransEuropa ferries.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I note that recently a property deal was cut for a prime Ramsgate seafront site, and we the public are not entitled to know how much it was sold for or what the market value was even worse the council spent thousands to silence Cllr Ian Driver.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Briefly I wouldn't expect much from Labour take this helpful input from <a href="http://bignewsmargate.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/labour-leadership-deputy-does-best-to.html">deputy Labour leader of Thanet Richard Nicholson</a> had this to say of River Oak offer back in July,"We had no idea it was coming and personally I am not happy about it. <b>We are not going to do business with people like this</b>. We are looking at a CPO and getting legal advice and will make a decision in time."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Or you might like this from the principled Cllr Alan Poole, some of you might remember was the councillor in charge of <a href="http://bignewsmargate.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/rubbish-update-utter-chaos-game-over.html">Thanet's dustbins debacle</a> later sacked from the Cabinet by Leader Iris Johnson “The difference this time is the CPO will lose us the election as opposed to opposing night flights last time winning the election.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you're thinking its all about the Council and not the people I reckon you could be right.<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qpdDWEnLoJc/VHheKYDK31I/AAAAAAAAMNM/15x2B2r2HLQ/s1600/sandwichman.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qpdDWEnLoJc/VHheKYDK31I/AAAAAAAAMNM/15x2B2r2HLQ/s1600/sandwichman.JPG" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'm not surprised by the attitudes and actions of Labour party toffs, the apparent contempt for working people exposed by the <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/labour/11246758/Emily-Thornberry-Twitter-row-white-van-man-Dan-Ware-is-cage-fighter-who-says-shes-caused-me-a-lot-of-grief.html">"White van man" tweet </a>of demised shadow attorney general Emily Thornberry or leader Ed Milliband's inability to eat a sandwich as in the now famous "sandwich photos" in which he looks like a man being forced to eat raw kangaroo testicles.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Leaders of labour are remote and clearly out of tune with working people who as we all know generally only come out of at the election time.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was emailed, earlier in the week by former local councillor and Eurocrat(I presume that he's still working for a Labour MEP), Mark Nottingham <a href="http://birchington.blogspot.co.uk/p/open-letter-to-clive-hart-from-mark.html">(you may remember him for the calm way he took the news that Ian Driver ousted him as Labour candidate for his seat)</a> , his email enquired </div>

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Dear Tony,</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Will is having some professional photos taken on Friday - is there any chance he can do some in/around the train station ideally with people like your good self?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Maybe with your colleague you introduced me to?</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Best wishes</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Mark</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Naturally I was, curious I rang Wednesday evening, unable to take my call, he sent a text message "Sorry in an event in Strasbourg" I replied suggesting that he enjoy before the UKIP hordes remove the UK from Europia.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyhoo Mark rang the following morning, he asked what Email? after I explained that I was a liberal party member albeit with a profound distrust and objection to the EU, he realised he'd sent it to the wrong Tony, for some reason when I started a rant about out of touch and aloof Islington Labour, and the casual betrayal of working people the call disconnected.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Thank you Mark for reinforcing my deep distrust of Labour and my view that ordinary people are not listened to by Labour as for Will Scobie, I suggest you get a proper job and meet normal people before you try and represent the people of South Thanet otherwise you'll be just another idiot kno w nothing politician.</div>

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3GvAYo4it5k/VFX3F9kjqSI/AAAAAAAAMMY/TVCWqhrzvk8/s1600/Is%2Bthis%2Bwhat%2Ban%2Bair%2Bhead%2Blooks%2Blike.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3GvAYo4it5k/VFX3F9kjqSI/AAAAAAAAMMY/TVCWqhrzvk8/s1600/Is%2Bthis%2Bwhat%2Ban%2Bair%2Bhead%2Blooks%2Blike.JPG" height="164" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The above is snipped from today's <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/11203718/Feminist-t-shirts-worn-by-Ed-Miliband-and-Nick-Clegg-allegedly-made-by-women-in-poverty.html">Telegraph website</a>, reporting the superficiality of Britain's politicians, those we would hope would and could articulate and represent our beliefs and values in a professional manner.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Of course few if any of us are surprised that politicians are apparently supporting feminism by wearing T shirts "This is what a feminist looks like" ironically produced in some third world sweatshop by poorly paid women. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
An example of just how shallow politicians actually are, they live in a world they purport to be in touch with, they're more at home taking part in PR stunts, than engage with real people and real issues</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The T shirts in question were produced for the charity <a href="http://www.fawcettsociety.org.uk/about/">The Fawcett Society</a> committed to promoting the rights of women, who seem to have misplaced their trust, expecting suppliers to ethically source these T shirts, a bit like us expecting our politicians to represent us rather than themselves.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://thanetwatch.wordpress.com/">Thanetwatch</a> as many of us know is the name of the publication, that Broadstairs based activists Norman Thomas and Christine Tongue regularly comment on and apparent act as arbiters of social justice and morality, which generally looks to the left for inspiration.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This week they focus on the ever popular Cllr Simon Moores, highlighting some tweet, in which it would appear, he's dared to make some satirical comment on the mass migration of humanity toward Northern Europe, as with any satire it is either something that you agree with or are vastly offended.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyhoo since Norman and Christine always have strong views I thought I'd ask Norman where he's coming from and pointing out that I've heard it suggested that he may be a supporter of the <a href="https://www.swp.org.uk/">Socialist Worker Party, SWP</a> an organisation better known in the 1970's for a peculiar brand of marxism, the answer is apparently not.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyway <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-34f36tO30E&list=UUrmTeCfA-wEVbHGpr32HnAg">in their latest film it appears</a> that their interviewee believes that Cllr Simon Moores is a "racist" something I doubt, and if I'm not mistaken, also thinks, if you exercise your democratic right, to join UKIP you are also a racist.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Sad that Norman and Christine, promote such opinion, I feel it is quite legitimate to question our membership of the EU and control of our boarders, still if I understand my conversation with Norman correctly his view is that there is no upper limit to migration and we can take any amount of people without any impact at all on schools, criminal justice system, health and social welfare.<br />
<br />
PLEASE note anyone can comment all I ask is that you sign in with an <a href="http://openid.net/get-an-openid/">open ID</a> such as Google I believe you can still remain anonymous but a least you will have a name, as ever if you choose to publish here you will still get your comment removed if it is offensive.</div>
