I am now obtaining counsel's advice to consider what action should be taken to support the Officer's defamed by your publication, the words in the final paragraph of Madeline Homer's letter referring to an email letter sent to council leader Chris Wells, in which she claims Sir Rodger Gail MP has defamed various officer's
Crikey what could mild mannered Sir Rodger have possibly done to upset Thanet's council top bod, not much in my view. In writing to Chris Wells, about the compulsory purchase order of Manston Sir Rodger Gale did mention concerns over a the previous CPO of Dreamland, which might have resulted in over caution concerning the Manston Airport CPO.
The worst that Sir Rodger has done is to perhaps, I think, suggest that the negotiation for the Dreamland CPO could have been better. ( I would of course normally quote Sir Rodger directly however who knows whether or not Thanet's boss might not wish to spend more tax payers money on lawyers)
Like it or not Sir Rodger Gale was elected to office, and has done a good job over the years, I doubt many feel it appropriate for the appointed chief of Thanet council to be using public money to censor correspondence of local MP even if he is critical of the leader of the council Chris Wells.
PS I did ask Medellin Homer's office if it was ok for me to comment however as you might imagine I've had no response at the time of writing.
I also asked yesterday if they could actually name the council officers who have been defamed and of course, how much this legal hoo-ha was costing. no answer as yet! my guess and it's entirely speculative and detached from reality but once counsel (a lawyer to you and me) has stopped laughing, thought how much he can charge, factored in that the generous taxpaying residents of Thanet will be footing the bill, who knows it could be thousands!
So what has Roger Gale done in his thirty or more years as a local MP? Sine 1983 Thanet and Margate in particular has been in decline with record unemployment and child poverty. Even his recent blustering about Manston having the full government support seems to be heading nowhere. The government have stood back and said nothing since prior to the May election. He also seems not to have chosen wisely in backing Riveroak where the Managing Director of their aviation company was struck off from being a solicitor for fraud. Its all very well for him to criticize the leader of the council but as an asset management company there is no evidence of Riveroak issuing the normal prospectus required to raise funds for such a multi millions pounds purchase let alone any evidence that they are cash rich.
ReplyDeleteI personally feel that Chris Wells, has acted as he should, it doesn't appear that river oak are going to fully back the CPO, me I'd personally say stuff it, let's take a chance, but that is why I'm a blogger and not a politician.
DeleteThe hard truth is that Manston's assets have have been flogged, and the current owners appear to beleive that turning it into a housing project is a done deal.
I think now is the time to consider fighting the notion that the owners have some God given right to plonk a grisly housing estate on what is a belt of green land.
Still the my intention of this posting was to highlight the (in my opinion) misjudged idea that tax payers money should be wasted threaten legal action against my local MP
Absolutely right Tony stone hill housing is not a done deal at all it can and should be easily rejected. Why has wells or Bayford not censured Homer already for misuse of funds over censoring Gale?
DeleteA paycut would remind Homer councillors approve her wages. Gale should call for crossparty support. What a jumpedup twerp she seems to be
DeleteHomer should be sacked for even attempting to threaten the MP. We can easily replace her.
DeleteChris Wells is not the politest of men as you know Tony and seems to have rubbed 5 ex UKIP councilors up the wrong way but in the absence of any other party from the established investor market looks like as you say he has followed the only course of action available. But with another UKIP councilor selling up and going off to Thailand then there were 19 until at least we have a bye election. Unless of course he follows the example of the tory Panama councilor and gets signed in to meetings.
ReplyDeleteWhich tory and ukip councillors could replace Bayford and Wells?
DeleteUkip are so thick they had to recruit Wells and Latchford from the Tories to lead them
DeleteI mean to say 27, (28 all other party members)
ReplyDeleteWell said Tony what on earth is Homer plating at trying to censor Gale with our tax funds. She must be on notice now after trying the same with Driver.
ReplyDeleteukip lose their majority to Bayford so will the Tories be progressing the cpo now as per their manifesto?
Wells must be the briefest leader if tdc? Not even 6 months and only 12 months as a ukipper? Defect back to the tories? Shonk as ukip leader? Iris to head a coalition. What a farce
ReplyDeleteWells Bayforf Lachford and Iris have all proved useless. We need change
DeleteNo manston employment as forecasted and 4k pfizer jobs lost and thanet dclg poverty figures already going backwards means thanet has serioys economic problems. Our existing politicians and cvil servants seem incapable actually having made things worse with WC and town centres etc. What can be done?
ReplyDeleteNow that manston won't be an airport what should it be or just left derelict?
ReplyDeleteManston and Ukip were supposed to create thousands of jobs. Now what for the area? One big retirement home?
ReplyDeleteThank goodness the Manston bumpkins have failed.
ReplyDeleteBoth Wells and Carter on BBC sounding weary of Manston and desperate to be rid of Rivrroak and StoneHill
ReplyDelete10 years since Freudmann and Eujet and Kcc and Seeda and plans for a massive Manston - all failed. Plus extra decline with Pfizer and Port and Dreamland. What are the Thanet economic growth plans now?
