Inspiration from Thanet's men in Westminster

I've been blogging for a long time admittedly recently I've not had the time or indeed the inclination and God knows  there has been little to inspire this grumpy old man to comment.

Still I am struck by just how much banality and mediocrity there is in public Life. I have to say that Rodger Gale fired my imagination last week with his recent communication regarding the European Union which unfortunately was very much sitting on the fence eventually tipping over toward prison Europe, such is his passion sir Rodger won't be involving himself in either campaign, has Gale ever stood out in a crowd?

In contrast Thanet South MP Craig Mackinlay seems to have been quite busy recently, in his view from Westminster in the Gazette he mentions that he has just visited Israel, having been invited by the conservative friends of , we of course can only imagine the tough questions that Craig asked in his meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu about Israel's merciless bombing of civilians in Gaza 2000+killed 100,000+ injured and more carnage with homes, schools and hospitals destroyed.

Still moving along Craig did stand up during last week's PM's question time and ask whether Dave would like to visit Ramsgate and then mentioned a Ramsgate PR group,in other business Craig revealed that he's been involved in a keep Britain tidy Project clean for the Queen , which requires politicians and presumably celebs to briefly to don a hi viz jacket, while gullible citizens get on and clean the streets, a job the local council have been paid to do.

Finally Craig Mackinlay has shown what a man of principle he is, we all know he has previously been a member of UKIP probably the reason he was chosen as conservative candidate for Thanet South, standing against Nigel Farage, so it is of no surprise that he has thanked the PM for giving him the chance to vote to leave the European Union.  I can't help thinking that without his former political party UKIP we wouldn't be having a referendum and to add to his misery perhaps you might consider the question of how much the Conservative Party actually spent in his political campaign anyway that's all for now although I understand expenses are being scrutinised.

  1. Hi Tony, good to see you back, I noticed no traffic coming from your blog some time ago, I guess this is because you have removed all of the links to other blogs.

Are you going to start regular blogging again?

  2. Cant think what Craig's Ramsgate PR group will achieve that others have not. Ramsgate even has a town council, does Craig not know that? But maybe the government will spend shed loads of money on Ramsgate just to undermine the UKIP led council. 18 months ago the EU, yes the EU, gave TDC £160,000 to improve the port facilities, notice any difference? A car importer did use the port for a few hours but that was 6 weeks ago. TDC port is not going to make a profit with that kind of use.

  3. I doubt that Craig mackinlay's Ramsgate regeneration Alliance has much life in it other than the peak it has already reached by being a small item during last week's prime minister's question time

Issues seem to come and go with Mr MacKinlay, whatever happened to the royal school for the deaf, not much, past the obligatory statement of concern, same with Manston surely if he in the Tories were so convinced they could have toppled the UKIP administration with a bit of arm twisting assuming councillor Bob Bayford shared his views.

In my view Craig mackinlay is pretty much all talk comma and no Focus where does he fit it all in trips to Israel parliamentary business constituency business as well as maintaining a business life as a chartered accountant how the hell can you run a business and focus are the needs of roughly 60000 constituents

  12. UKIP are no good:

    * Manston: rejected as soon as elected as a manifesto point
    * Animal exports; rejected 6 months after elected as a manifesto point

What have they done at TDC and KCC? Some litter guards?

  13. And Janice Atkinson is still at the EU soaking up tax despite the Margate fraud. Or was it not a fraud according to Kent Police?

    1. KCC is still pumping in over a million per year on arts grants and insurance and maintenance of the gallery. Thats on top of the million a year the art council is also utting in. Latchford is right on this one. With the initial spend of £17 millins and anther £10 millions over the last five years the TC should now be able to stand on its own two feet. The regeneration of Margate has had a fair crack of the whip, what bout the rest of Thanet?
