Sir Roger Gale backs Theresa May

It's not often I agree with sir Roger Gale MP however he has just sent out a statement* praising Mrs May's speech given at the launch of a campaign to become leader of Tory Party, as one of the most powerful and impressive speech he has ever heard.

After a week of extreme turbulence Teresa Mays launch of a bid to become Prime Minister and leader of the Conservative Party offers I think a ray of sunshine, this I think will be a view shared by anyone who sees or has seen Theresa Mays campaign speech today.  She makes Boris Johnson despite his obvious talent look like a bumbling buffoon in comparison.

I think if the Conservatives have any sense they will elect Theresa May, as far as I can see it she's probably the only person with the honesty and integrity to get the United Kingdom through the coming months and years as we extricate ourselves from the EU.

PS as I finish writing this I see that Boris Johnson has had the good manners to embrace defeat.

*Theresa May – Statement from Sir Roger Gale MP

I have just returned from the launch of Theresa May`s bid to become the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and for the first time in what has been a bad week I feel a real sense of hope where before there was despair.
I have been involved in politics for more than 50 years and Mrs. May`s speech was one of the most powerful, and impressive for its quiet dignity that I have ever heard.

We are reminded that while she is determined to reflect the view of the British people as expressed in the referendum, and to negotiate our exit from the EU on the very best terms possible, there is also a government agenda designed to create and strengthen social justice and equality that has to be pursued and that she intends to spend the rest of this Parliament, until 2020 (and beyond) doing exactly that.

Earlier in the week I said that we now needed, to take us through a very difficult period in our history, a leader with vision, courage and determination that I had found missing in the Vote Leave campaign.  I believe that in Theresa May we have found someone who has emerged with the experience, skill and ability to reunite not just or even  the Conservative Party but  the whole Country.  She accepts the reality of the vote and she is ready to bat for Britain.
I hope that we can now rally behind her and make the United Kingdom work again on the world stage.

  1. Recon she will go down a bundle with the folk of Thanet, Take a look on how she votes in the commons.

extract "Generally voted for reducing housing benefit for social tenants deemed to have excess bedrooms (which Labour describe as the "bedroom tax")

Consistently voted against raising welfare benefits at least in line with prices

Generally voted against paying higher benefits over longer periods for those unable to work due to illness or disability

Generally voted for making local councils responsible for helping those in financial need afford their council tax and reducing the amount spent on such support Show votes
Almost always voted for a reduction in spending on welfare benefits

Generally voted against spending public money to create guaranteed jobs for young people who have spent a long time unemployed"

  2. 2200 clearly you know more than I do, obviously not knowing who you are it's necessary to make assumptions right or wrong on your philosophy of life my initial assumption is that you are left leaning and that your suggestion she will go down well with local folk is ironic or just as plausible you may well be a confirmed Tory in which case your comment is a positive endorsement.

However given that you make much of welfare in your comments I assume you are more likely to be left leaning, in which case the concept that welfare has got out of control in the last few decades would of course be alien to you and conservative attempts to reform the out of control public spending juggernaut welfare is presumably somewhat terrifying for those unfamiliar the concept of spending money responsibly to enable the country to deal with competing budgetary demands such as health defence education transport Law and Order

Your final point refers to Theresa May having voted against spending public money to create guaranteed jobs for young people who have spent a long time unemployed well excuse me, I cannot understand how a young person could possibly be unemployed for a long term assuming they have normal levels of fitness because there are always entry level jobs available perhaps on minimum wage but so what also of point out there is no such thing as a guaranteed job

Finally it is worth pointing out that Theresa May has done a very good job in the Home Office for I think the last six years when the Threat from homegrown terrorists committed to destroying civilization has never been greater.

  5. 1107 she has been home secretary for some time so I presume she has some responsibility in that area

Yes the Lib Dems have been calling for UK not to brexit still the argument has been lost and if you ask me is part of the reason that the Liberal Democrats have become very much diminished in electeroll terms

I have never been a Tory I have never been labourite, over the years for me it is generally the Liberal politician that has spoken intelligently and reasonably in any political debate.

As with all political parties you have to be an enthusiast to actually be involved in the decision-making process of that party the Liberal Democrats could if they wanted to allow members to vote at home via the Internet during their conference as could all of the political parties but as we have found out in the recent referendum established political figures find that mass involvement rather distasteful

Still the Labour Party are in one of the greatest crisis ever and have allowed themselves to be much influenced by Looney Tunes socialist worker types with their deranged unrealistic program of Anarchy just look at how the Labour Party allowed socialist workers to swamp demonstrations such as their momentum group we certainly have seen socialist worker very much controlling protest here in Thanet

  9. As I understand it Chilcot terms of reference start 2001 hence question marks over Roger Gale up to year 2000 will not feature. He has offered no explanation why he concealed contamination and remediation at Thor (WMD chemicals manufacturer) in his address to Commons 2000 re Foreland outfall. And no explanation why he refused to help constituents who owned land adjoining a gun range in the 90s where squads of middle easterners trained with uzis. And no explanation about that earlier Thanet case not being cross referred into Met and Dyfed Powys post 9 11 inquiry into Al Quedda suspects being trained with uzis in Wales (The Frank Etim Mark Yates case)

Obviously regular readers will know that Mr Yates in the 90s worked for a paramilitary live fire traing company which was founded at Deal Barracks 1976 to 1983 by what turns out to be an ex SAS con man. But while still able to pass himself off as ex SAS he planted WMD threat information on Dr David Kelly's mate Tom Mangold of Panorama in 1997 and 1998.

What is relevant here is that Theresa May's terms of reference to National Crime Agency in Stephen Lawrence corruption inquiry (To which I am an officially called witness) prevent NCA from investigating whether that Deal Barracks founded paramilitary company was source of moonlight work to five South East Regional Crime Squad officers. The disciplinaries are public record now and one disciplined was Det sgt Davidson of Lawrence Inquiry. Disciplined for moonlighting on police time and falsifying police duty records.

The Head of Organised Crime at CPS wrote two months ago to NCA and to current Lawrence murder inquiries re failures of prosecutions to disclose these disciplinaries to defences at the private Lawrence prosecution 1996 and the CPS prosecution 2012 in Lawrence case.

So maybe Gale's support of May is by way of some quid pro quo.

The concealment of Thor and Sericol contaminations of environment went on after 2000 to be concealed by TDC in the Section 106 agreement for Manston. In which a "Determined group of cllrs and TDC officers" dodged statutory environmental impact study of planning law.

Now Thanet has over one in five on long term sick. And an estimated one in seven exhibiting symptoms of COPD with Thanet having highest COPD rates in UK.

So will Gale's favoured Riveroak be allowed to dodge the epidemiology inquiry the expert body said was required 2009 ? This is a TDC breach of environment and public health law not Riveroaks doing.

  11. Chris Wells was in charge of the Manston Airport Committee and environment (and is now as Leader of TDC). What does he know of the pollution?
