Advertising with public money - a lunchtime thought

A lunch time thought as you can imagine it cannot be easy for public institutions to reach every demographic and I'm not sure that Thanet leisure force is acting in the best interest.

The latest edition Thanet Watch has I guess a readership comprising of curious individuals such as myself and diehard lefties who wish for the days of Mrs T and a Labour Party full of earnest socialist instead of social climbing politicians on the make.

Anyhoo surely Thanet Watch has a minuscule readership and circulation, so why is an organsation such as Thanet leisure force, part funded by the taxpayer advertising in what I always assume to be a magazine with an extreme bias to socialist causes.

  1. Connections in high places perhaps but surely not corrupt abuse of office to help finance a left wing rag.

  2. Tony, KCC are funding £100,000 worth of advertising for KLM flights from Manston. I assume you at equally appalled by that?

    1. Er not in the least, I know that deadbeats from London tired with life, as you are, begrudge us unrefined poorly educated muppets the aspiration of foreign travel.

May I suggest you try some uninhabited island off the coast of scotland where your fantasy idyllic life might exist unimpeded by real life

    2. KCC have a history of throwing money at anything connected to Manston as many locals will know.
£120,000 lost in investing in Planestation, charter flights to Virginia - KCC total losses £299,000.
But the last funding of £100,000 worth of free advertising caps it all. Since KCC cant give the money to KLM under competition laws they are giving it to VisitKent and they will spend it in Europe.

    3. Still plenty of seats avilable on KLM at low low prices for you Tony If you have not already booked your flight. But looks like locals are a bit slow on the uptake, if they dont use it they will lose it as a dont think Manston will be the prefered airport for DFL's.

    4. Poorly educated muppets like yourself Tony may well find Manston ideal for the benefits of medical tourism as an introduction to foreign travel. Whether it's to swap a kidney or find cheaper lung cancer drugs for your children - don't forget to save up though.

Or are you saying an airport on the water supply and removing the monitors by Infratil and TDC and funded by KCC is ideal?

KLM will crash and burn with dozens of empty seats as with EUJet before.

  3. Presumably you believe that socialists don't go to concerts or exercise.

    1. Yes got it in one 17 22 socialists don't know fun until they've been corrupted on their journey to the promised land just like that poor old Tony Blair 16 mill turnover last year and 12 mill the year before.

  5. If you'd have played it right, you could have approached them to advertise on your blog. Missed a trick there ;-)
