Bent Thanet? Surely not Public Meeting tonight 7pm

Shock horror the very suggestion of corruption in Thanet council seems incredible, incompetent yes, over time I've heard some outrageous examples of the poor standards, at TDC such as,  at the comic level a council officer telling me that the Tudor House in Margate was built in the 1950's, seen reports of the planning office misleading the public about planning a significant planning application in Newington, and of course witnessed first hand how two chief executives failed to allow unfettered access to public meetings although at least one had the manners to respond personally to complaints unlike the current.

Anyhow Cllr Ian Driver and Louise Oldfield will be on hand to discuss this issue of corruption which has loomed large since Sandy Ezekiel's conviction for abusing his position in public office.

The location is the RED HALL, 11 Grosvenor Road, Broadstairs, 7PM.  All welcome apparently, I myself would suggest that anyone speaking exercises caution, since these days local authorities are more than happy to spend taxpayers money on defamation cases, I myself some years ago found myself being threatened not directly by Kent County Council but by one of their contractors running KCC project for daring to criticise media policy.

  1. I see that Simon Moores accuses the organisers of the meeting of having an agenda. (On a Thanet Watch thread)

If they have a Socialist Worker motive all I can say is that they are extremely poor at agenda pursuit. There are far richer public interest pickings in Thanet than a few bent iffy businessmen and bent cllrs.

I remember the Red Hall pair making a film as long ago as 95. Obsessed with a local pub chain
operator and a local amusement park operator.

Since 95 ? I have played a part in bringing about Article 2 inquest procedures. Played a part in changing police complaints law to create IPCC and end Chief constable abuse of veto to block complaints against officers. Brought about new Security of Electrical Supply Regs for NHS. Reported by invitation to Scottish Energy Minister and to HSE Nuclear Inspectorate re back up power on nuclear plant

Very topical but this is a low risk incident comparatively

I have reported one Thanet custody death inquest to Attorney General and the Inquest was abandoned and given to an out of area Coroner

I did FOI applications exposing Sericol and Thor contamination of the aquifer.

Change of police investigation team in the 1989 Deal Barracks bombing case (MI5 gave the press release that the Kent Police team was being replaced)

It appears that having achieved nothing of substance (like ECR and every other blogger) the Red Hall pair are holding another event at red Hall to discuss Thanet corruption.

    1. How did we ever manage without you, Richard, but, please and as I have asked before, just tell us of one conviction arising out of your allegations.

    2. Well said Tom, and i have to admit, that whenever I hear the words "Red Hall" it makes me laugh, as do it's promoters.

    1. Very subtle, 22:19, and a champion of worthwhile Thanet causes like 'hunt the homophobe' as well.

    2. Add 'hunt the THANET Conservative' criminals to that, you outdated sicko

  5. Why would he need to hunt for homophobe when your mate Ken Gegory calls him directly on his mobile to make a death wish against him you sick bigot?

  6. Roger Gale prefers to give a reference to a convicted scum bag than to support the victim of homophobic bullying. Maybe thats why the so-called Tories are not in power in Thanet!

    2. Is the drink driver or one of the other criminal THANET conservatives?

    3. I think the imprisoned drink driver died, so who is the sicko trying to make mileage out of that. By the way, as it is too easy, there are no prizes for guessing.

  7. Tony - many thanks for coming to the Corruption Question Time. What do you think we should have as the topic next time?

    2. what was the result of the Corruption Question Time: who is behind Pleasurama, and the Ramsgate Labour bung for £25k? Bayford is chummy with Painter he must have some idea of what's going on?

Looks like the TDC civil servants are involved and at lest playing coverup to safeguard their pensions. Which of them ran Pleasurama? White? Seed?

    3. The result of the Corruption Question Time was, as you might expect, inconclusive. Indeed, it was more an opportunity for some to air suspicions, others to slander by inuendo and for one, in particular, to promote his KCC candidate credentials. As a result, it was a hotchpotch of meaningless, gobbledegook.

Perhaps if you had turned up, Anon 11:02, with all your inside information on bungs and bent officials, not forgetting 0% salaries, it would have been an even more hilarious gathering of angry nondescripts.

"one, in particular, to promote his KCC candidate credentials"

"Preferably Assisted Suicide, Christine, and then hand the little black capsules out to everyone who attends. RIP!"

Perfectly described, with a perfect suggestion for the future!

  8. We as a nation are in dire straits indeed. Please watch this interview between two former naval officers, and spread the link far and wide if you care about this country:

  10. Obvipusly not a plain-speaking god-believer then. If you didn't "talk in tongues" your message might be more appealing.

  11. Its true the country has gone to the dogs hopefully the people will wake up to the fact and fast now they are all going to suffer in secret courts. The communist didnt bring down the Berlin wall it was taken down because it separated them from their mates in parliament.
