Shock horror! Councillor John Worrow has jumped ship once again or perhaps morphed, from Tory to Labour in around three years. Is anyone surprised, I doubt it, I've not had the time to comment, on much of late, and frankly why would I.
I work long hours, and the occasional time I get to glance at local news, I just despair.
Why anyone would wish to be associated with Thanet Labour is beyond me, given their record, millions sunk in Ramsgate Harbour, EKO alleged scandal, and of coarse Manston Airport, damned by Labours weak and embarrassing support and I understand discrete meeting to discuss planting an awful housing estate wonderful garden city also the strange removal of the councils monitoring officer (what could possibly have been the motive).
Still one positive thing that Labour has done recently is to replace Cllr Clive Hart with Cllr Iris Johnson, perhaps they ought to look at Will Scobie their prospective parliamentary candidate, ruffled I imagine by the "Boy" tag given by ukip MEP Janice Atkinson, still Worrow is happy defend his new party colleague with this endorsement "... Scobie is one of the brightest and most capable politicians I know", maybe Worrow ought get out more.
Often when you speak to local councillors, they'll frequently suggest that they only joined a particular party to get elected, I just wonder if its not time to ban political parties from local government, and focus, just on who we are electing.
Finally could Thanet councillors and jobsworths not spend my hard earned money on lawyers gagging the flow of information, we expect in a democratic society, despite any current investigations, I believe that the council needs a proper public inquiry to establish whether the public perception of a bungling incompetent organisation is correct.
Well said Tone and we haven't got to the bottom of TDC corruption and fraud yet. Even now the councillors deny any wrongdoing no doubt hoping a few schtum payment will cover over everything
ReplyDeleteI don't think you can pin the TransEuropa loss all on labour, it was the tories that started the arrangement to allow the ferry company to have credit in the first place. You may also have forgotten that it was the tory led TDC that set up the secretive EKO together with tory led KCC and as part of that arrangement TDC owe KCC £3 millions for their share of the new road costs. Was a new £6 million road value for money?
ReplyDeleteAs soon as the new owner took over Manston the writing was on the wall for a closure. The air show was cancelled in early January, now that was a clue. Even if the nosiest planes were allowed to land at all hours of the day the airport was closing. Nothing that was in TDC's power was going to stop that.

ReplyDeleteWhatever. I will NEVER vote traitorous labour again and i encourage those that still do because 'i have always voted labour' or 'my dear mum always told me not to vote what u want but what you are' that labour aren't what they used to be. Use that as a get our clause and vote against the traitors. I will if i have the time ,pop to Will Scobies surgery, think him under the tabour and the only way he survive will be to lie through his teeth and keep smiling....oooh a bit like the twisted Tony Blair in fact. Labour are a ''dead man walking' doesnt matter who joins them or how the desperately rearrange.
ReplyDeleteIris is being urged to see a housing development at Manston as an opportunity. For example to build resilience planning into the design. This to promote local jobs in the generator industry and help create a new market for a major local employer. Also to plan in a "Self Build Trail" as pioneered by Milton Keynes. But to do it better than MK who used undersized plots and imposed uniformity. Such a plan would support the self build and eco kit home sector who could well be encouraged to set up a Thanet workshop and offices.
ReplyDeleteThere seems, under the new leadership, to finally be an acceptance that TDC was misdirected in law for many years by its own legal officers. Statutory reporting duty compliance. (Terrorism Act 2000) and IF a policy is introduced it may platform a retrospective process which examines a lot of alleged corruption. I think Thanet knows that to move forward it must put a line under the past corruption. But to draw the line means exposing and admitting the corruption that has reverberated at TDC since the days of Cyril Hoser.
I agree with 20:07 that there's little to separate the parties in terms of Thnaet corruption: Tory Pleasurama then Labour, Tory EKO then Labour, Tory 0% fraud and Labour silence, Labour £25k Chinagate bung, Dreamland both, and so on
ReplyDeleteSee Ian Driver's latest post (24/6) before he gets the legal threats telling him to remove it.
ReplyDeleteIt appears that since the labour led TDC has not produce a Planning Policy Framework then TDC are powerless to stop planning applications such as EKO's 550 houses and all the other applications that will come it around Manston.
I am sure he owners of Manston were well aware of this.
On another track, are you still a card-carrying member of the Liberal Democratic Party, Tony, or have they disowned you for trying to encourage others to vote UKIP and for your repeated supportive references to, and promotion of that Party? Just asking. Just Interested to see how far the political lies and insincerity spread.
ReplyDeleteWith TDC corruption should we get a council tax rebate?
ReplyDeletePay attention 11:00 both Tory and Labour approved EKO and sat on the Board. Interesting to see the accounts and expenses eventually.
ReplyDeleteWith the Port Cllr Everitt tells us we have lost no money dedpite losing/funding the Transruropa secret ferry deal and the marina income falling by 75%. How so? Presumably just writing off the costs or transferring them into the reserves. Incredible.
ReplyDeleteNuclear and other toxic waste buried at Manston in Gazette.
ReplyDeleteThe Labour £25k was not a bung merely a coincidental donation by the developer of Chinagate.
