Clarity

I recently turned 60 and inconceivable as it seems to me the world has changed in ways I never thought possible

Looking back it's as if I was born into a world that was black and white, since that was the predominant available hue in both print television and film, and back in the past, with less Media news was also clearer with no spin

News outlets from the BBC to our own local newspapers,  have made news less important than commentary I guess because we can all comment with out awkward facts getting in the way of our mood swings.

The Isle of Thanet Gazette commentator plain Jane epitomises the sort of thing I mean, Friday's newspaper she apparently couldn't find why the Thanet Way had a 50 mile an hour speed limit I myself got the information in seconds by mumbling into my phone something like ok Google kent highways Thanet Way speed restriction, wallop  in a split second up popped a Tweet from the relevant authority, and the facts

Still also interesting to read plain Jane's views on what she considered sacred in Britain which included a judicial system freedom of speech equality compassion a jar of Marmite but sadly no mention of democracy which it's no surprise given the not inconsiderable whinging or bremoaning about brexit once again, get over it and move on for God's sake

Anyway moving on from small town commentary the most disturbing thing apart from me realising I'm 60 and I may not live forever is the shock that the establishment intelligentsia whatever we might call them have nothing but utter contempt for the majority of British people who have come to the honourable conclusion they have no wish to continue to be ruled by a committee of greedy and delusional Eurocrat's

Still these people so keen remaining tethered to Europe are affluent middle class people who haven't seen their jobs taken away by cheap labour or experienced the challenge of sending their children to school where English is no longer the first language of significant numbers of children

  1. Plain Jane is useless and typical of many of the feeble Kent journalists that can barely write

    1. Critical as I am plain Jane has her moments, and to be honest can write, as you can see I struggle, the problem is I'm afraid too few journalists and not time for them to research and maybe a lack of IT skills, still I've yet do Twitter

    2. If there's no research or skills then its not journalism just random opinion.

    4. What's happening with the £500k TDC Port fraud? Why are the journalists reporting on jumble sales rather than that?

  2. Welcome back Tony, Brexit was a whisker in favour...and let's hope wiser heads realize how important the EU and trade are rather than immigrant-bashing and UKIP nutters. Surely a robot will be taking your job?

    1. Wiser heads I think did prevail your comment take that we know best line of patronage and I'm sure that is the case. However from my position I think brexit is marvelous yes and painful, at the top of my blog I mentioned my age, and I just wonder how my mum and dad's generation would view our current situation.

A generation that fought fascism the bullies, destroying European nations, a population whether in the military or in civilian roles were at risk home and abroad.

Alongside the fight to liberate Europe was the hope that this would enable nations including ours to self determination. I doubt anyone in the 1940's thought that meant we would one day surrender our borders and our country to millions from Africa Asia and of course Europe to anyone and everyone with a bizarre a sense that somehow they were automatically entitled to help themselves to this countries wealth

    2. Brexit won't change black or Pakistani immigration which seems to be the underlying current of UKIP racism.

And the Poles are white and here already...as in WW2.

So all the elderly Ukippers have done is introduce uncertainty and racism and weaken the economy.

  3. Existing migration from Pakistan Africa has not really been a problem, and neither would migration from Europe, had it been planned I realise that a fair bit of Brain washing or some conditioning has taken place in the last few years however I'm a liberal and voted brexit, nothing to do with migration more a case of sovereignty and self determination.

Yes I've certainly overheard ukip politicians using racist language but then I've heard similar even from labour supporters

Stop thinking in clichés and start using your brain

  4. Brexit nothing to do with migration you say? Then why do you mention languages and overcrowded schools or cheap labour at every opportunity?

And how does the EU undermine UK sovereignty when it's a democratic organisation with UK MEP's? And Brexit simply means rewriting the existing EU laws into UK law - more expense and redtape.

An economic crash eg higher food prices forecast as you'd expect with UK outside the EU trade union or paying more for the same?

Agree the EU expansion and migration was badly planned.

    1. Certainly for me and most rational people I know the key thing with bricks it is to have sovereignty and self-determination not a bunch of crooks from across Europe wearing suits thank you

I mentioned languages and also overcrowding in schools and cheap labour because these are a consequence of unplanned migration from East Europe, there are considerable problems with those issues

I don't believe for a second that the EU is a democratic organisation as I said it's a bunch of crooks in suits

EU Law into British law is simply a device so that we have a legal system intact when we tryand unravel the mess

on the plus side Nissan has shown their faith in the British economy and trade going forward marvelous news I'm sure we'll all agree

Without a doubt I believe that Theresa May is doing an excellent job sorting out the mess of brexit and proving the media stroke bbc bremoaners wrong.

What a contrast to the leaders of other parties particularly Scottish nationalists who will ever forget Nicola Sturgeon within an hour or so of the result of the brexit vote be announced Wittering on about uncharted waters Christ knows what else as some justification for a rather undemocratic attempt to turn over the the earlier referendum that voted against the treacherous intentions of Scottish nationalists the most outrageous thing in both of these recent referendums is that the losers wish to make it best out of three or keep Holding them until they get the result they want

    2. May is certainly doing a good job with her support of bringing back grammar schools and her government's plan to have another vote on the Fox Hunting ban. That's a bit like allowing another vote on the UK leaving the EU!

    3. And May has ditched Academies and no doubt a Uturn on grammars. She is unelected and has no policies.

Tony's gone UKIP-Tory now but fails to mention how the Brexit leaders all resigned within days when even they realised it was a policy for fools...

    4. Why is the EU more undemocratic than UK parliament? It has elected MEP's from U including Farage?

      Delete
    5. It's more democratic than unelected Theresa...or Scotland voting against Brexit and so reconsidering independence. Certainly more democratic than TDC councilors having a closed door debate to support Brexit

    6. "on the plus side Nissan has shown their faith in the British economy"
Looks like the government has had to promise to remain in the single market which means agreeing to keeping free labor market.

    7. Yes 19:00 a closed door deal and for other companies so Brexit will cost us at least the same if not far more...

And it's not really getting control back if we're held hostage by Nissan etc?

  7. Tony says he favours Brexit and then when its pointed out all the flaws - and a tiny majority - like Farage and Boris he scampers away to hurl insults....48% want Remian and the vast majority are younger then the Brexit racist pensioners
