Ten Years on

It is 10 years since I started this web blog and to be honest something's have changed for the good and some things are just the same as ever.

My original postings were often concerned with the Turner contemporary gallery and the controversy that surrounded it's creation and completion , the gallery has been a roaring success even with cynical old gits such as myself, although perhaps the best for down market proles such as me has been the resurrection of dreamland.

Margate is better than it was 10 years ago although that said there have been down sides, not least the suggestion of misappropriation of EU funds, the loss of the royal school for the deaf and of course the Conservatives alleged  inability to get their sums right when accounting for election expenses

Still on the whole it seems that Thanet council is being run slightly better than in the past, which may well be due to the inexperience of UKIP in running the council.

I think councillor Chris Wells has done a good job given the naivety of some of the members of UKIP as for the Manston issue, some of those UKIP quitters also don't realise that Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will be the proposed new housing estate for Manston god willing never!

As you will appreciate I'm a little out of practice on blogging , but for my next blog I will be touching on brexit and the incredible campaign of Lies and interference from foreigners in what is a discussion of British sovereignty for now, I will just say this it is a measure of how corrupt this country has become that the best argument David Cameron and George Osborne can come up with is the cost to the economy, they clearly place no value on independence or our sovereign rights,  the generations who sacrificed themselves for this country, do they really think 3 to 6% shrinkage to the economy, matters a toss when freedom and principal are at stake.

And really if they Osborne and Cameron gave a flying er.....  for ordinary hard working people would they really be in the Tory party, I think not.

Till the next time.

  2. It us small beer considering some of the failures, perhaps someone could put together a top ten list of cockups, maybe anyone reading this could nominate items , still really we're spoilt for choice, payoffs such as those for officers who disappear mid career, legal expenses for sheep/lambs Millon's I heard.

  5. So tell us Tony were you stand on the entry to Dreamland being about £14 and the Turner being free? So far the Turner has cost £30 millions with running costs. KCC continues to put in over £1.5 millions per year. Its not just the arts grant but KCC also picks up he bill for maintenance and insurance of the building.
If the true attendance of the Turner is 500,000 per year I think there should be a £3 entry fee. But maybe the 500,000 includes those going into use the toilets.

  6. I plead guilty to using the toilets, but that is a criticism of tin pot thanet council. As to the cost of the gallery, should I take it that you wouldn't go to a gallery if it were in London.

Access to galleries and museums enrich our lives and I think you'll find such establishments are often free in civilised societies so how marvelous that Margate is lifted from the gutter by a modest oasis of culture.

As for the cost kcc had never been frugal on vanity projects or looking after themselves

The entrance price to Dreamland seems modest, the cost of a night out for two in London seeing a show would probably be not dissimilar as me and Mrs me taking the grand kids both are fun

Maybe though you need to get out more 17 47

    1. If only I could get out. Since you use the Turner for its toilet since every visit clocks up on the attendance log every visit is costing the KCC council tax payer £3 and the UK tax payers through the art council grant, £2. I think you are taking the p...

Thanet is worse it has highest lung disease rates in UK

But this is he first I have read of an ozone effect causing pockets of pollution problems in rural areas. A Cllr asked me some time ago whether there was a factor for causing disease in rural areas of Thanet so I emailed them the linkie.

Is anyone else actually doing anything re Thanet Health Inequality and Manston implications beyond making short blog comments, of no consequence, anonymously ?

    1. I think absolutely anything is possible these days with the police at least we haven't got South Yorkshire police protecting us, famous for ignoring effects at Hillsborough and I believe refusing to deal with child rapists because it may offend the perpetrators

In my view the world has gone mad protocol correctness has taken away our ability to talk openly so it is not surprising should Kent Police find it necessary to put someone of independent on a watch list

    2. Sorry that should have said ignoring facts and political correctness but it illustrates the danger of using voice dictation

    5. The police may take you in for questioning Tony and then shag you like other radicals. At least we don't have Police Scotland leaving you to do in a car in a ditch because they lost the 999 number - or Lincolnshire Police G4S making hundreds of test 999 calls to boost the figures

  11. The Ukip leader of Thanet District Council has revealed he fell into arrears with his council tax bills for four years running – and faced a court summons in each of them.

And it says Chris Wells is a public sector management consultant - who with? TDC?

  15. Heard the story about TDC putting up to tender for £1.8 millions for the next stage in developing Dreamland?
Heard the one about the company operating Dreamland going into administration. That's despite the Debt Agreement reached last year to pay off nearly £3 millions owed to local supplies and others over 4 years? Looks like that agreement was flawed.
