Just what sort of people inhabit the United Kingdom it seems to me that if the media are right and Cameron and Osborne are also correct then everything just comes down to a few pounds per annum or whether the economy grows by one or two or three or four or 5 percent.
The European remain campaign appear to believe that we are all totally without any principles, freedom, sovereignty, count for nothing.
However forget money, forget migration (the other cliché), how about the petty but sinister intrusion into our lives by the European Union which now believes that suppliers of on demand media such as such as Netflix should have now have to have a quota of European content.
Imagine when the Eurocrats then focus on news media, presumably newspaper such as the Torygraph will have to accommodate qouta of left right and centre political opinion, imagine the socialist morning star newspaper wouldn't be able report on its miniscule revolutionary supporters.
Clearly deranged and powercrazed Eurocrats feel they have to impose cultural quotas, ignoring the fact that currently individuals such as I can freely choose to pay for entertainment, I pay for Netflix because they produce and distribute quality programming which without loony euro bullies already provides content from both Europe and the rest of the world.
By what logic is it necessary for the Euro state, to try and manipulate even what we watch when we relax, it's this sort of intrusion that inclines individuals to question why we need there EU.
Local content quotas of film and TV is a good idea - BBC does it already...
ReplyDeleteRichard Branson against Brexit but TDC UKIP in favour...who would u agree with Tony?
ReplyDeleteDidn't Branson once have a misunderstanding with HM custom re VAT?
DeleteIndeed...some years before becoming a billionaire...and sooner than Chris Wells' accounting...who would you trust? Or Trevor Shonk and Heales views on Europe and immigration?
DeleteRather than Branson Tone shouldn't you concentrate on TDC stealing your tax?
DeleteWhy hasn't Wells or Bayford spoken up on the TDC Port fraud-theft?
DeleteIs that really Clive Hart popping up in some role at East Kent NHS? Didn't he prove a disaster at TDC?
ReplyDeleteClive Hart is a modest man not given to blowing his own trumpet, it appears that he is volunteering to help the NHS and I'm sure he'll do best
DeleteHe shouldn't be in charge of the bedpans let alone budgets for people's health
Deletes the lay member of the governing body of the Thanet Commissioning Group I think you will find he is on a nice little earner at the rate of a NHS non executive director.
DeleteHow much is Clive paid for our health decisions - after the Port corruption and secrecy he has form?
DeleteThe BBC is an arm of the establishment if not government, I believe that market forces ought to be paramount, next they'll be dictating to book shops weekday they can sell. Next it will be book burning
ReplyDeleteMarket forces Tony are ITV: Dale Winton quiz shows to placate you after tunneling all day?
DeleteThe BBC isn't much of an arm of government hence governments complaining about it...
DeleteI agree we could do without Nicholas Witchell fawning over the royals
The only censoring is TDC and its fraud reports and salaries?
Delete1404 market forces are also watching House of Cards courtesy of Netflix and madmen via NOW TV I don't wish to subsidize Euro crap just because someone in Brussels says so and is so twisted they think we have to replicate there tastes
Delete1404 market forces are also watching House of Cards courtesy of Netflix and madmen via NOW TV I don't wish to subsidize Euro crap just because someone in Brussels says so and is so twisted they think we have to replicate there tastes
Deleteerrrr House of Cards was BBC?
DeleteCome off it Tone you're watching Supermarket Sweep reruns and Jeremy Kyle while sat in your underpants drinking Morrisons lager
Delete1433 you are correct the House of Cards series on BBC was the inspiration for the Netflix version but although the original was good I can tell you that without a doubt the Netflix version is every bit as good if not better and certainly higher production values
Delete1434 the shows you mention are to be avoided particularly offensive is the unpleasant Jeremy Kyle in my view I've recently moved from drinking lager to drinking bitter and my takeaway beer of choice these days is Aldi's draught bitter shipsterns
Yes Tony the point being the BBC you hate created it superbly for free...for Netflix to copy...
DeleteTony you misunderstand the point. The EU is saying to coordinate local content across Europe ie Croatia makes 20% of Croatia films etc. That's all. It isn't funding anything. It's what Scotland does with Gaelic language radio etc. Have a chill pill and read the Daily Mail about the immigrant figures...
ReplyDeleteI think that you are clearly mistaken 1431 as what the EU are suggesting is that companies like Netflix by 20% production quota from the European Union as I prefer to be entertained rather than preach to I do not want to have the cost of buying inferior nonsense from the European Union the subscription price of course it would have to be increased to cover the cost
DeleteIt is certainly the case that tax payer funded broadcasters subsidize minority arts and entertainment such as Radio 3 broadcasting to a few thousando listeners of classical music
I'm guessing that you are a reluctant convert from an analogue world to the Digital world the thing about subscription-based streaming broadcast services are that they are more like publishers or book shops in which customers make the choice
Touching on broadcasting it is the case that the BBC broadcast minority programming to niche markets such as the Welsh revival of a dead language and I know it recently as you mention that tax payers a funding life support to Gaelic speakers both of which would have no place in the commercial and real world not some Euro nut.
Yes Tony you may be right 20% form Netflix as a US company - and EU national broadcasters would have their own national quote: a good thing preventing everything being Rocky27.
DeleteYou're anti public broadcasting when it coexists with private: hence you being able to watch minority sports like darts after flinging your beer can at Jeremy Kyle.
American TV as market driven (but not completely) is full of bad TV, luckily, we only get the excellent shows.
The book shop market analogy is as with supermarkets only selling Top Gear annual and nothing else to you.
While Welsh was dead because it wasn't supported on TV etc and now it's alive.
How is the BBC an arm of Establishment? It's open to anyone/everyone?
ReplyDeleteyour views on the new TDC Port theft Tony? Is TDC corrupt beyond reform?
ReplyDeleteAre you standing in Newington Tony: it's as destroyed as Margate?
ReplyDeleteAre u at Manston 100 event tony?
ReplyDeleteLittle Ships this weekend - who would know? TDC and RTC are useless in promoting the towns
ReplyDeleteShouldn't you be toeing the LibDem party line Tony?
ReplyDelete"In Europe, we are more prosperous, we are safer and we are better prepared to tackle global challenges."
Rob Kenyon and Tim Howes seem to be the TDC characters responsible for Dreamland. How much are they paid?
ReplyDeleteThey may be left with this mess to sort out but the previous Labour administration were in the driving seat when the contract to run Dreamland was awarded and to set the opening date when the star attraction was not ready costing TDC £900k in compensation to Sands Heritage. But then companies that wanted to run Dreamland weren't exactly queuing up even though TDC granted a 99 year lease with no rent to be paid for 7 years. And that's the only value the administrators can put on the Sands Heritage company.
DeleteBut it looks like those owed at least £3 millions between then including local suppliers and TDC can whistle for their money.
20:26 from June 2015 UKIP were leading the council...and Kenyon and Howes were handing the Sands deal before then...see Louise Oldfields Dreamland blog for how much you'll be paying out
DeleteAny advances on TDC spending £28M of tax on Dreamland?
ReplyDeleteManston 100 attracts the crowds says the Gazette but photo shows 13 cars and 21 people? And no flyover so fairly useless
ReplyDeletehttp://www.thanetgazette.co.uk/Manston-centenary-celebration-attracts-crowds/story-29334508-detail/story.html
How much is Kenyon paid for managing this disaster?
