The Photo that should never see the light of day!

Today I have taken the bold decision to release a photograph into the public domain, prohibited by the jobsworths and pompous inhabitants of Thanet council, the proceeding description does not apply to all staff and councillors only those opposed to public access but those of us who sometime visit the council chamber might have noticed the offensive restrictions on using cameras and recording devices in the taxpayer funded supposedly democratic arena.

Some of you will know of the hostile attitude by some council officers and councillors at the mere idea of the public recording for posterity the efficiency and adult conduct of public meetings. I myself have on at least three different meetings been so obstructed by officers and staff that it was necessary to write to the Thanet chief executive to complain. The last and most serious event I was forced to leave a public meeting due to an "overzealous" member of staff.

Recently I enquired with a TDC press wallah, having witnessed Thomas Brown of the Gazette, film part of council proceedings as to the criteria, for allowing such practices, a fair bit of waffle ensued about "accredited media" responsibility, it seems the bottom line, is this, they will not allow anyone to record proceedings unless they happen to be part of the traditional cosy establishment, interestingly the first two video's from the council meetings seemed to happily highlight Cllr Worrow's excitable outburst about "hate crime" perpetrators, and Cllr Driver giving a deserved  passionate performance, asking about the honesty and conduct of  Thanet Council in giving away £3.4 million away to insolvent TransEuropa ferries. The more reasoned videos from the TransEuropa debate wasn't published till some time after something the Gazette could explain.

As we all know in this country our media and press organisations are without reproach, who could question the high standards of the countries key news provider News International or indeed the ethical standards of journalists, just what was all that silly business with Leveson.

Anyhow I have to fess up to the crime of taking an unauthorised photo at a recent council meeting, this was purely accidental, still publishing isn't, I have no doubt that leaders of the council will once again join together as they always do over crisis and controversy like Arlington, TransEuropa, Pleasurama etc. to condemn my actions.
To you and I the photograph shows a foot, a bit of carpet and the creaky uncomfortable seating in the public gallery of the council chamber, still to the Senior Bods such as Cllr Clive Hart, Cllr Bob Bayford and Chief Exec Dr.Sue McGonigal, I can only guess that they see a dangerous pro democracy intent (which is why I included the Chief executive's Dr title since this seems to be used to add gravitas in press releases).

I have made several requests over the last few weeks, admittedly these were by phone to the press office but so far no permission has been given, for me as a responsible blogger with some track record of honest reportage to be allowed the same privilege as the Gazette, to me this shows a clear political bias.

As has been reported elsewhere the Communities Minister Eric Pickles has clearly indicated that councils should allow bloggers access, still it seems that Thanet council as with Pleasurama, Arlington, prefers to do business in the dark away from scrutiny, perhaps for all we know everything is predetermined down the lodge?

  1. With you all the way Tony. Its not a question of if the Council allow anyone to film but when.

  2. You may consider yourself "a responsible blogger with some track record of honest reportage", but you are far from objective. Overlooking the occasional abuse you direct at those with opposite views, remarks like your "Grim news for anyone living in Margate or even Thanet" regarding the Tesco decision show your site is used, not unreasonably, to get across your personal opinion. Fine - but don't pretend this is journalism.

    1. Put it this way, I don't have to hide in the shadows like yourself, upfront and honest, I have opinions and may well let that colour my style, however I don't lie or hide behind, bogus claims of confidentiality just think of the most controversial cock ups in Thanet of late both have been bubbling away in complete secrecy for what?

  3. Decisions are done in the dark as you say. But mostly not by our idiot politicians, but by utterly incompetent officers. The stupid Councillors accept all officer recommendations without question (those that they get told about) and then end up with egg on their faces when things always go wrong. Being ultimately responsible for the decisions, Councillors are then left to play the blame game, and not understanding what they are talking about, cant even do that successfully.

    1. Clive Hart certainly doesn't stand out as any different from Bob or even Sandy, think you're on the money with that appraisal.

    2. I would disagree with decisions made by officers and blindly followed by cllrs. In 2009 decision was to reject the developer of Pleasurama's changes and our Sandy ignored this decision. However Dr Sue should have made more fuss about Sandy's decision

  4. Expect an arrest warrant, you have options share a room with Assange or head for Hong Kong

    Half wit Thanet council officers will never sleep until you are bought to justice, how dare you publish a photo of council carpet.

  6. In my opinion, we pay for the council and the council is there for our benefit. Surely, they should ask us what we think before introducing rules which prevent us from seeing or hearing what is going on? I'm not saying that they have to ask everybody but did they ask anyone? I certainly don't know of anyone who was asked but I do know a lot of people who wouldn't have agreed.

    2. 20:54 the council is there of the benefit of the civil servants and councillors.

      How else would explain the secrecy and coverups and shtum payoffs and duplicate councillor seats and wages?

      Every month they can deny any wrongdoing is an extra pay packet and pension contribution. Rare to be fined or pensions removed?

      Be silent and pay your rates like a good boy why don't you?

  7. I'm afraid the Tesco decision is far bigger than TDC, in fact it comes from the UN, and ultimately those who pull the UN's strings, the corporate banditos.

    Total corporate control of the food supply is their goal;

    Open Skies Treaty, and Bill Gates' terraforming projects - the aerosol spraying of aluminium, barium and selenium salts from military and civilian aircraft, which shall, within a few short years, render the soil barren to all but Dupont and Monsanto's patented genetically modified seeds;

    Codex Alimentarius - the removal of all beneficial nutrients, minerals and vitamins from our food and health supplements, the addition of fake sweeteners aspartame (blindness, sudden death syndrome, methyl alcohol addiction), acesulfame (reactive hypoglycemia, cancer, dizziness/nausea, headaches) or the brain damaging and obesity causing high fructose corn syrup to many products. Cow's milk produced using bovine growth hormone and in the cheaper brands, lead (Pb) colouring dye, artificial meat grown in tanks, etc.

    Once big agriculture and the big supermarkets have the monopoly, once the independent farmers, distributors and retailers have been regulated and squeezed out of business, it's gonna be soylent green time.

    Bon appetit!

  8. I couldn't agree more. Courgette Finger is tucked away in his bunker, beneath a remote Indian Ocean island, plotting world domination and control of the population by removing all nutritional value from our food and substituting with mind-altering drugs. CF's minions in government have received their instructions and will bow to his wishes because they fear him and the retribution which will, without doubt, follow should they fail their master. The last politician who failed to do his bidding found himself on the menu in the Commons cafeteria.

  9. Humorous bit of prose there sonny, you should have absolutely no problem passing the eleven-plus next year.

    Actually the venue was Watford and all the usual suspects were there, Kissinger, Rockefeller, Queen Chubbychops of Pornodruggieland, somewhat crapping their pants though lately, compared to earlier Bilderberg pow-wows.

    2. You might have chosen a more topical conspiracy theory. Like did the non-build Pleasurama Developer develop old Bury St Edmunds Hospital land as a Masonic Retirement Home ?

      What TDC is anxious to head off is the use of cameras, to record the truth, becoming infectious. I am told that the ever humorous Dr McG dubs this "Candida Camera". What a wag she is.

  12. If you see planes flying low over Thanet's contaminated agricultural land fear not. They are not spraying nutrient eliminating toxins. They are filming crops being grown on land for which the EU is paying set aside grants not to be used.

    The farmers who hate dole scroungers drawing public funds. But hypocritically not averse to scoring considerably more funds by hey diddle diddle against the taxpayer funded EU ?

    Now that is approaching a decent agricultural malpractice conspiracy theory eh Tony.
