NORTH THANET LIBDEM SPOKESMAN SIGNS DOWNING STREET PETITION TO SAVE BATTLE OF BRITAIN MEMORIAL FLIGHT

be2 (Press Release)
North Thanet Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Mark Barnard is backing the campaign to save the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight from being axed in any defence cuts.
Mark commented,
“The flight was a crucial link to the most glorious episode in the RAF's history and was particularly important to North Thanet. Manston Airport was the hub for the Battle of Britain
I urge people to sign the 10 Downing Street petition to make clear the strength of feeling on this issue.
There are five airworthy Spitfires in the memorial flight and costs less than 0.1 per cent of the defence budget but the pleasure and pride to the many thousands who are thankful for its achievements at this crucial period in the defence of our freedoms is impossible to quantify.  It would be a terribly short-sighted move if the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight were to be axed.”

  1. Are you making this up? Where has it been said the flight will be axed. Nice try, but stupid

  3. I'm not voting for some bloke that lives in Herne Bay and don't really know Thanet. A Lib Dem vote is a wasted voted - I am normally a UKIP voter but I know that the only way to get rid of Brown is to vote Conservative!

  5. Sorry to say, but I would prefer to see the money spent on this flight providing equipment for the troops in Afghanistan

  6. This item is a press release which is straight forward clearly the petition referred to exists
I assume that the contributors so far are from thanets political dinosaurs.

Re Roger Gale it is commendable that north thanet tories are willing to support a man who I understand will celebrate his 67th birthday this year

  7. It's quite simple, the MOD waste tens of millions if not hundreds of millions on stupid mistakes so finding 3 million quid to keep the BBMF operating really is a no brainer.

  9. Tony,

That's very unsportingly ageist of you. So long as he does a good job it doesn't really matter does it?

I know plenty of 60, 70 and even 80somethings! who are far fitter and healthier than the younger generations.
