Council open doors policy – situation resolved

Following on from recent reports here on Bignews Margate, concerning access and egress to council offices, I've been asked to convey news that the council, have acted swiftly to ensure that public will not be inconvenienced in the future.

Richard Samuel, Chief Executive of Thanet District, issued this statement "I would like to apologise to those members of the public who were unable to access the council chamber for the start of the Extraordinary Scrutiny meeting on Wednesday (8 September). This was totally unacceptable.

Being able to access any public meeting is clearly an important part of ensuring that the council is open and accountable to any member of the public, and this was an unfortunate error on the council's behalf. I'd like to assure those people who were not able to access the building initially, and indeed the wider public, that the security procedure has been reviewed as a matter of urgency to ensure that this situation does not happen again.

According to Mr Samuel Prior to the start of the meeting, the Security Guard on duty was alerted to an incident of anti-social behaviour at the Post Office Yard, so the doors of the office building were locked while he went to investigate the claim.

Its pleasing to see this issue treated seriously and resolved, thanks.

  2. Well done, Tony, for following this through and getting an answer. Obviously that answer will not placate all of Thanet but, then one asks, could anything? The most treasured Human Right on the isle is the right to whinge!

  3. Its a fair response, how else do you respond, thanks to Richard Samuel it cannot be easy, replying to the likes of me, since, lets be honest, newspapers and broadcast wallah's work to certain conventions, bloggers can be anyone with access to the internet.

Miffed as I was about not being able to get into a meeting which I had taken some trouble to attend, I later reflected on the safety aspect which frankly is and was of greater importance.

  4. Well said Tony, Usually there is a reason for something like this, only the real conspiracy theorists could not believe that

  5. Accept of course that the "explanation" is not true!
The locked door situation denyiong access to meetings is happening increasingly regularly. It reflects the lack of importnce the regime at TDC attaches to democratic scrutiny.

  6. Ken, you are so right about the conspiracy theorists that I think, if some terrorist flew a 747 into the council buildings, they would see it as a TDC plot to avoid democratic scrutiny. Of course, the same people cannot see that to shout down debate, all too frequently the object of attendance, is also a denial of democracy.

  7. In the rational balance of things there can be no such thing as a conspiracy theorist in the absence of a coincidence theorist.

I blame Hitler. Storekeeper mentality. The delusion that if he can label soemthing he understands it. Hence yellow stars for Jews.

How Hitler would approve of our postwar education system and our racial typing (guised as "respect for diversity").

Every blog features the low intellect label hangers and they have been generously issued with labels to hang.

    Institutionally racist

    Little England

    etc

In the 1st World War era there was a mass hysteria promoted of thousands of members of the establishment being blackmailed by the dastardly hun over their sins of Soddom and Gommorah.

Nowadays Ken and Co believe in thousands of "Conspiracy theorists" over whom Ken and Co are certain of their own greater clarity of thought.

Bloody conspiracy theorists eh ? If a terrorist caused a diversionary public disorder incident at the Post Office Yard there would be conspiracy theorists saying it involved the Duke of Clarence. Cos they heard a Royal Male involved (geddit ? ECR humour what a larf)

  8. There's no evidence the alleged disorder occurred and even if disorder occurred there is no evidence it did so at random.

    Bloody coincidence theorists.

  9. Surely any conspiracy must involve illegal rifle ranges, adventure training cadets, the BNP, the IRA, Deal bombing, perjured councillors and Tories in general.

Mind you, the Duke of Clarence suggestion has a ring of truth for I saw some guy in ermine robes running along Union Row on the evening in question. He was chasing a postwoman in a mini skirt!

  10. The aforementioned chase may have resulted in a 'catch' which in turn could explain the locked door, perhaps!!

  11. Retired, if you really have evidence to support your claims of some grand conspiracy why not take to a national paper where they have both the investigative staff and circulation to substantiate and publicize it.

If you haven't I suggest it is time to stop, particularly naming people as you do, and avoid boring the rest of us to death with your oft repeated fantasy.

Why don't you even write it all up on your own site instead of investing everyone elses. That way, those who enjoy fairy stories can read it all at their leisure without everyone else having to suffer it time and again.

  12. Bluenote

I have never suggested a "Grand conspiracy".

I was a member of the TA Home Service Force serving alongside MAISON in 1987. He was one of those arrested for paramilitary activity in 87 within the TA.

He was an adult leader of Kent Adventure Training Corps. Another adult leader, his long term associate, attempted to join TA HSF but his claimed REME service could not be verified.

Although I was not involved in this paramilitary activity some weeks after the arrest I received a phone call from Kent Police asking to take my statement. This had been requested by an Army Intelligence Corps Sergeant based at Ashford or so I was told.

I gave a statement to DI ROGERS. And in that interview I asked him to check out an alleged saboteur of backup generators especially to check whether he was an associate of any of the arrested TA paramilitaries.

In 1988 we were living in Wales and I had a phone conversation with the welfare officer of Thanet Branch of the REME Assn. He was adminning a claim for REME Assn welfare funds grant to a man whose claimed REME service could not be verified. Branch Chair (Tory Cllr MAISON) he told me had denied knowing the claimant but had recommended payment on the basis "Better pay one con man than let a genuine case slip through the net"

Well MAISON and the claimant he allegedly claimed not to know were fellow KATC cadet leaders and it was the same man who had been rejected for TA service who also could not verify his claimed REME service.

The Thanet Branch REME welfare officer was concerned because the claimant with dubious claims to former Army service was working for Reliance Security at Deal Barracks.

    So I contacted the police.

Other people also came forward but Kent Police only took a statement from one.

The ex Betteshanger miner who gave evidence of approaches from MAISON trying to obtain mining explosives "to make whizz bangs" for his Kent Adventure Training Corps cadets.

I understand that you are ex military. What I have described to you so far meritted an investigation and charges of obtaining employ by deception if the evidence emerged as seems likely to have been the case.

    OK so far ?

  13. I sent Kent Chief constable three reminder letters in 1989. But all I received was a letter thanking me for my information.

The barracks was blown up by IRA (allegedly) on 22.9.89.

I assumed Kent Plod had done all necessary checks and reports to Royal Marines so did nothing to question the bombing.

It was 1991 I was in conversation with Commander Robert Green of RN Intelligence Retd about a report I had made to Gwent Special Branch re Plessey torpedo production at Newport. He told me about a planned BBC2 expose' of an organisation called GLADIO.

For this reason I wrote to Kent Chief constable asking if the matter entering public domain in UK would enable him to answer me whether all was done re my security warnings (which I have not detailed yet to you Bluenote) to protect the Royal Marines at Deal.

It was when the Chief constable of Kent refused to answer that my suspicions were aroused.

The first report (To MI5, MOD and DTI) re sabotage of Petbow backup generators was submitted for me by Roger Evans MP Monmouth in about 94 in conjunction with my MOD verified report re suspected sabotage of RN torpedos in production.

Eventually I think 95 James Arbuthnot MP Defence minister intervened re the Plessey torpedo suspected sabotage Special Branch case in Gwent and the Gwent SB file was transferred to MOD Plod.

This is the point at which the Plessey and Petbow suspected sabotage complaints were joined. And two MOD experts had agreed my technical explanations for the Plessey history. Hence within MOD (HARTLEY Head of MOD Procurement MOD PLOD liaison) it was known that I had come up with the right technical explanation re torpedos and sonar unreliability. But MOD refused to verify this to other Whitehall departments to lend weight to my complaints of sabotage consistent with Stage 3 OIRA Garland terrorist plan at Petbow.

We moved back to Thanet in 95.

And over the years I submitted evidence to Kent Plod that the alleged Petbow saboteur was a long term associate of former arrested paramilitary Thanet tory George MAISON.

So now Bluenote ... ONE of the 26 inherent IRA flagged lines of inquiry in the Deal Barracks warnings to Kent Plod 88/89 had just been corroborated.

No ifs no buts. One of the 26 lines of inquiry Kent Plod had failed to pursue. And as serious as it can get.

In 1996 this was CRUCIAL. Which is why Jonathan AITKEN MP went discreetly to MI5. The IRA attempt to take out electricity and gas distribution in London and South East for six months.

The most serious IRA attack plan ever attempted.

Hope you are still with it Bluenote.

Warnings re Deal Barracks who was right Bluenote ?

Warnings IRA were preparing to attack mains distribution in 96 who was right Bluenote ?

The position of Kent Plod seems to be that he may get the answers right but his reasoning is wrong !

A position they studiously avoid facing me about in a Court.

What can I say ? If anyone I name don't like it the courts are there bring it on.

  14. In 1992 Ordnance Survey carried out an aerial survey which detailed exactly the position then of the quarry edge target end of 6th Thanet gun range Birchington.

In 1995 neighbouring landowner Bill True obtained the OS photos and surveyors appointed by range freehold owner Corpus Christi College (Woolleys Land Agents) agreed that earthworks had undercut the quarry edge and taken the targets at base of quarry edge 12 feet into Mr True's land.

    No ifs no buts Bluenote.

Hence the inevitable conclusion that unlawful earthworks had been carried out between 92 and 95. With TDC not enforcing planning, noise nuisance or range use incon sistent with planning consents (.22 target rifle no club house)

When the Trues bought the adjoining land the range was closed and never expected to get its range licence back.

Its licence was withdrawn for irresponsible operation (wrong types of weapon in use at range)

But in 95 with support from Kent Police HQ overruling Thanet police licensing Inspector BRAGG the range got its licence back.

Bill True took legal advice from Robinsn and Allfree which was he must do as he deemed fit to correct the danger caused by the unauthorized earthworks which had left an undercut target end with the targets in law on his property.

The survey agreed with Wooleys land agent draped a red and white tape to designate the range border. And Corpus Christi gave Bill wayleave for 15th April 1995 to use his JCB from their land as necessary to make the quarry safe.

This was prenotified to the Gun Club.

But on the day Bill was lawfully using his JCB to carry out the agreed safety work range users turned up and fired at the JCB which was Bill's side of the red and white suspended border tape.

An off duty armed support officer of Kent Plod has boasted of bouncing bullets off the JCB bucket.

His colleague is Pc Peter WALMSLEY of Minster who apparently is not cop enough to name his gunny gung ho criminal plod pal.

It was photos of that firing towards the JCB that Cllr HUDSON witheld from TDC Standards Cttee along with the photos of the unauthorized earthworks.

In spite of this Kent Plod tried to keep the range licence operative but Bill had skimmed the quarry edge down to below MOD range standards and got the range closed down for good.

The signal for 15 years of malicious persecution so far from Kent Plod.

AS you may know someone with whom you cross swords (an expert in range architecture surbeys and ex sniper and member of Army rifle team) witnessed unidentified middle easterners being drilled at the range and saw off duty plod involved in firing from 3 moving cars on range exiting firing whilst rolling etc. To such an inept stabndard it frightened him (he calls them "Funnies") more than relatively sane people like IRA.

The question is whether the off duty plod were in the pay of an organisation like IBA or ILETA who charged trainees (such as middle easterners( up to a grand each per week for live fire training. I gather such courses had a strength of between 12 and 28. So it seems that a week course using free Kent ranges could cop someone up to 28 grand.

The James SHORTT use of Deal Barracks from 75 to 82 throws up another corroboration of one of the 26 lines of IRA flagged inquiry. (Re VMO who early 80s supplied guns and explosives to IRA and had links with extremist right wing IRA supportive groups in England)

What I am currently looking at is whether a Royal Marines reservist was involved with SHORTT's "Combat Training Team" IBA or ILETA. Because he was also yet another Kent Adventure Training Corps adult leader !

    That'll do for now Bluenote.

If your pals in Thanet tories reckon they can take me on in Court then bring it on. Otherwise I will continue to name them and they will have to continue to skulk in craven silence.

What you outline is not political but criminal if substantiated. As such it should not be the persons you continously malign taking you on in court but you supplying evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service.

I cannot accept the underlying claim in your statement that all the forces of law enforcement are so incompetent that if you had real proof of your claims they would ignore them.

Perhaps you could also explain how an Intelligence Corps Sergeant gets to instruct the civilian police to take a statement from a member of the public. I am afraid it does not work like that.

What, however, do we hope to achieve by highlighting them on a blog site like this, other than going completely off the subject under discussion.

The place to air such is either to the proper authorities, if there is sufficient evidence to support charges, or through the mass media.

Retired goes on about things that happened over a decade ago. Others are reiterating stories that have all been well publicised previously. What is the point?

Looking out the window I can see a cuckoo on a cloud which must be indicative of the utter nonsesense that passes for debate sometimes in Thanet's blogs. If the argument does not go anywhere why have it in the first place.

  25. The plot thickens!!!!

It would appear that the fire brigade were informed about the council offices locked doors but took no action, although such contravened fire regulations when personages were in the building.

It is now revealed by our roving reporter that the retained fireman on duty that night, who may have taken the call, is a Tory party member, freemason and former cadet of that well known psuedo military organisation once engaged in unlawful shooting in Birchington.

Wait, for there is more. This same gent was once arrested along with others for para military activities near Chislet and charged with the possession of explosives. He got off when his lawyer demonstrated that the forensic results revealing Semtex on his hands could have been caused by nicotine even though several witnesses said he never smoked. He celebrated his release by attending a party at his mum's house in Armagh attending by all his friends who wore black berets and funny armbands.

Only joking but, it could have happened in the recesses of certain minds.
