Ladyman untroubled by China Gateway?

BBC tonight carried a somewhat small report, on China Gateway, for the people of Thanet we had Norman Thomas the main speaker from last nights meeting in Broadstairs, to discuss the issue and opposing Stephen Ladyman, who seemed blissfully unaware of the environmental impact on Thanet, the thousands of additional road traffic movements, the contaminated water supply and the fact that since we understand, these Chinese businesses will mainly be distributions centres with few jobs.

Still what would Ladyman know, presumably Thanet South Labour party have many reasons to back the scheme, no prises for guessing the correct number, it almost looked as if Ladyman was er .......... reluctant for some reason even to consider that local residents might have valid fears.

My personal reasons for objecting to this China Gateway are despite the generousity & hospitality being splashed around toward politicians Labour and Tory, none of them seem to have learnt enought to give us any facts, fortunately there are those who will fill the gap, local bloggers, newspapers and last nights group are the ones that will keep you informed.

I think if BBC South East, had given this item, maybe another couple of more minutes the public would have known more and it would have exposed Ladymans lose grip on his knowledge of this major issue and also his interest in his own constituency.

Still in fairness where the hell's Roger Gale, in all this?

  1. Is Roger Gale compromised on this issue to? Is it called de-selection in North Thanet if you don't play ball?

Who would like to be a Tory MP with the likes of Ezekiel and Latchford pushing this project with assorted Senior TDC Officers in the major part of your Constituency? Does he speak his mind or just make empty promises like: 'Acol will get its by-pass' and 'I'll write Parliamentary Questions concerning the EA referring queries to a shareholder of CGP?' A difficult position for Roger Gale perhaps? Most constituents in N Thanet thought him a man of principle but questions are now being asked about expediency.

  3. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM YOURTHANET.

"The news that UKIP's HQ are worried about"

I was interested to read in last week's YourThanet that Gerry O'Donnell, who is registered with the Electoral Commission, as the leader of the Ramsgate First Party, described himself in his letter as " an Independent Candidate for the forthcoming General Election"

Does this mean that he will be leaving the Ramsgate First Party, and if so, will the party's registered Treasurer 'Leslie Trevor Shonk' be taking over as caretaker leader until the party has a leadership contest, or is Mr Shonk busy enough as it is, with his other job as UKIP's Parliamentry Candidate for Thanet South?

  4. As a slight diversion from the main topic or not, perhaps, Trevor Shonk has turned up at two anti-China Gateway meetings sporting his UKIP rosette. I'm surprised folk didn't ask him to remove it.

Roger Gale is for the scheme but Laura Sandys' views aren't known altho' privately she has said she has 'concerns', whatever that means.

  5. I must say I do not envy Gale in dealing with questions raised by his party at the local government level. I think he must be surely tempted to disavowal all connection with them. I would any way.

The press love Ladyman because he has held government portfolios and can be called the minister for ...

I think that is what is happening there.

  7. What a good idea! Each Ward needs an action group to ask its Councillors to turn down the application. 200 members of the Action Group then remember in 2011 how sitting Councillors voted and then vote for any candidate other than them. That is normally enough in a ward to lose! Its called democracy?

  8. I knew this was really about getting a few leading protesters elected and not really the gateway. when elected they would probably go red or blue

  9. I should imagine that Roger is hoping that the generous benefactors ( Wills ) who gave Ladybird £25000 last year, might see fit to grease his palm in the same way!

Be non commital for now, and then be very positive once your bank balance has improved!

Roger Gale a man of principle? It would appear that all men have a price!
