Bignews - News Blackout from Clive Hart’s “Local” Labour Bunker?

I happened to be sifting through my email inbox and the thought occurred what ever happened to Thanet Labour supremo Clive Hart’s regular Labour “Press releases” which use to make a break, from all those impertinent emails, offering money making schemes, Russian brides and ones which make insulting personal assumptions, offering suitable chemical cures and equipment.

I then chanced on Michael Child's Thanet Press releases, and a quick nose through this handy local reference, I found myself once again engrossed in the wit and wisdom of Local Labour (like Labour but deeper in denial), I then realised that since I happened not to back err Mrs Hart's campaign in the Dane Valley By-election not entirely because I happen to be a Liberal but probably more to do with Labours move to the right, which saw Labour looking after big business rather than the British people, even in the dying days after Labour had effectively bankrupted the country, Lord Mandelson's rather spiteful attacked your basic freedom to information by introducing the Digital Economy bill which effectively allows spiv's in the music business to disconnect, your internet connection without any right of appeal.

Either beleaguered “Local Labour” are unable to communicate with the outside world or they have instituted tough Stalinist controls on the flow of information, well whatever the reason, it seems to me that Clive Hart's "Local" Thanet Labour party are denying themselves the oxygen of publicity since in the past I've had no problem with publishing the odd statement (it saves a lot of tpying), it's probably all just an oversight, I'm sure Cllr Clive Hart would not be that petty.

The last Thanet Cabinet Meeting I went to, I did note that the Labour shadow team were surprisingly subdued, maybe it was the loss of the general election or the loss of not only a parliamentary seat, but the former occupier Dr Stephen Ladyman, who just like Norman Tebbit's dad, has got on bike (not necessarily metaphorical) and found himself a job, as MD to a company that which builds private care accommodation for the elderly, still many of Labours past, present and future casualties will not be as fortunate.

Just going off at a tangent I was quite impressed with the new leader of the council Cllr Bayford who seemed more relaxed and less combative than his predecessor during the last Cabinet meeting, even offering more cooperation if Labour were interested.

Admittedly I haven't publish everything sent by Labour but currently all I see are anonymous comments from bitter Labour supporters.

  1. With all these cuts Labour are just sitting back and thinking what a lucky escape they have had. Yesterdays news mean that 13 schools in Thanet that were planned to be replace by schools fit for future will no longer be built.

It was not Ed Balls but Paul Carter that said:-

"The new schools will give our young people first class facilities that will transform education so it is fit for the 21st century."

  2. "because I happen to be a Liberal but probably more to do with Labours move to the right, which saw Labour looking after big business rather than the British people"

Ha - and now LibDems are part of the great condemnation. Move to the right? That wasn't a waltz they did it was a foxtrot careering so far to the right they are now indistinguishable from Tories. They are complicit in Tory plans to sell off what remains of the public sector to their city chums. Liberals have no moral high-ground left, they are in a hole from which they will never dig themselves out.

  3. Ladyman got a new job less than 4 weeks after the end of the election?

Its rare to get a senior management post that quick you don't think he was filling out application forms as party workers were tramping the street.

  4. So your vindictive, petty, pointless little post is indicative of the "new era of politics" your party under Nick Clegg has supposedly seen in?

To be fair to you, how new is it to see a Party - yours this time - sacrifice all its principles, lie to the Electorate, go back on manifesto pledges...all so that a few of its top brass get money and glory.

Rather than keep going on in your anally retentive way about Labour, and Labour supporters being in denial - I'm not; Labour lost; end of - you now need to look in the mirror. It is you who are indenial. You still believe you belong to a Party of principle and substance; you don't. You belong to a Party that has given itself over to the Tories hook, line, and sinker. Yesterday's laughable performance by Clegg on electoral reform exposed the Lib Dems perfectly.

You must be so confused, Mr Flaig, and lost.

  5. Anon 1:35 How am I being vindictive, I point out that for some reason Clive Hart's statements appear not to come with the frequency they once did.

I'm sure our defender of flower beds would not be that petty.

Abusive comments are indicative of the state of local Labour.

Good point 8:45 and anon 9:20 how did Ladyman get fixed up so quick a real stroke of luck, well done!

Clive Hart's sometimes highly personal take on things have often featured on this site, So really is he being petty or as I'm inclined to think just an oversight I'll email a link.

  6. Join the best club in Thanet Tony, those hated by the self serving camp followers of local Labour, through all its twists and turns.

You are condemned for having a point of view that differs from that of this other exclusive little club, as the government are condemned as they mop up the mess left behind.

Yes, there will be pain, and there will be casualties - but who left the mess behind them?

  7. Well Chris I'm reserving judgement for a while, maybe Clive has no sense of humour, maybe I have offended Labour by maintain my independent thought.

Maybe Labour are that petty, whilst I carry the legend "OFFENDING POLITICIANS SINCE APRIL 2006" I hope Clive is not that thin skinned maybe he is

  8. Trouble is you're not maintaining an independent thought Tony, not any more. You're obsessed with Lib-Dem being the good guys & Labour being the baddies when those of us who really think independently can see that things aren't always as clear-cut as that. Maybe if you tried offending ANY politicians who've already gone back on their election promises then perhaps we'll all take you a bit more seriously again.

  9. The Con-Dems way of "mopping up" seems to be gsambling on a massive scale with the loosers being the working population. And yes of course Tony's new grandchild and other young children, unless you think being taught in buildings like Hartsdown have no impact on a child education.

  10. Wow, you're even saying the same things now as the "dip in then run" Mr Wells. Great company there, Mr Flaig, though why you are both so keen to play the down-trodden victims, I don't know. You seem to have forgotten - while playing the same old anti-Labour record - that you are in power now nationally, and your bearded friend has been in power locally for some years. You can't keep trying to make people scared of the bogeyman of the Left.

And, Mr Wells, I don't think threatening to introduce ever more draconian anti- trade union legislation has much to do with the economic situation. As with so many of the other measures your national leaders are promoting, they are long-held Tory ideological objectives, which, with your Lib Dem colleagues/poodles you can now introduce. Fine, that's democracy, but stop pretending and lying.

  11. Peter, Clive Hart wishes to be censorial it's his call however it seems rather short sighted if not shallow.

Particularly as Clive knows that I have often supported his view point and that of his colleagues ironically on matters concerning freedom of expression.

In my mind, it shows the lack of confidence that Thanet's Labour leader, has in his own leadership and the performance of the Labour party in recent times.

  12. To quote Tony - all I see is anonymous comments from bitter labour supporters - QED

  13. Erm...I'm not anonymous, bitter or a labour supporter! But I guess (like Tony) you only see what you want to see Chris.

  14. I've not changed one bit since starting this blog and I'm just commenting as I always have, Clive Hart appears superficial.

Happy to send his highly readable and in no way self centred press releases when it suits and then for some inexplicable reason Bignews is untouchable.

At no point in the four years of this blog have I ever supported Labour, so what changed.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The thing that has changed is that you used to moan about everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  16. 11:45 not all at the same time, if you trawl back a day or two I'm suggesting that Kent tory leader Paul Carter ought to resign for paying out vast sums of money for no go reason.

  17. Not aimed at you Peter - 13 comments, 7 anonymous, many of those quite strong in their condemnation. Its there, but not from you who has always used their name, like me.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Peter using your logic from previous postings as a Labour supporter clearly you views aren't worth a toss since party allegiance clouds your judgement.

    However I take you seriously

  20. Since when have I been a Labour supporter? Strange, because other blogs have accused me of being a Tory...

The fact is that I support whatever I happen to think is right & I criticise whatever I think is wrong. Party politics don't come into it. For example I believe that Labour introducing a minimum wage for lowly workers like me was one of their better moves, but because - like Mark & Simon - understandable in their cases of course - you have a fixation with one party, you can't bring yourself to praise others when they occasionally get things right.

  22. Oh dear, here we go again, when all else fails, fall back on the anonymous comments chestnut.

If you don't like anonymous contributions, Mr Flaig, ban them. If you don't like anonymous comments, Mr Wells, ignore them.

Of course, without anonymous comments, you'd have as few contributors as "Dr" Moores and Mr Gregory, which wouldn't suit, would it? And Mr Wells would have fewer opportunities to set forth his views and arguments.

    Plus ca change...

To quote Catherine Tate's "Nan"...you do make me laugh.

  23. 11:59, Mark's blog isn't exactly overwhelmed with comments either these days, particularly considering he posts far more often than Simon & Ken (& the other local Labour blogs have pretty much disappeared because no-one bothered with them).

See, I told you I'm not a Labour supporter...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Telling that the only remaining successful blog is ECR, which shoves pretention, cant, hypocrisy and lies back up the a*se of each of the political parties and their local spokespeople.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Actually I'd also list Michael's Thanet Online & Margate Architecture as "successful" blogs, but I'm sure it's no coincidence that (like ECR) though don't support any particular politicial party. BigNews Margate, Thanet Coastlife, The Thanet Star (& indeed Thanet Life & From One End Of Kent) are all far more interesting when they concentrate on local issues without trying to make petty political points.

  26. All these blogs are sh!t, ECR, Thanetonbooks Thanet life/strife and most of the contributors are
    W%akers go read a newspaper

    Successful my a<se

  27. Nice to see Rupert Murdoch visiting a humble local blog.

  28. 7:01 you have a point

If Rupert Murdoch is visiting he can blimin well pay up.

Next time I see newsint show up on my spy software I shall be sending a bill

  29. I think this subject is now all played out and I must thank you all for you kind support

  30. Most disagreed with you, Mr Flaig, but if that is what you call support, great. Bit like keeping your friends close and you enemies closer.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 12:57 another satisfied reader if I'm not mistaken. You labour readers just can't thank me enough for articulating your dissatisfaction with the great betrayal of labours grass roots by the muppets who lead your party.

    ReplyDelete
  32. You really do have a huge chip on your shoulder don't you Mr Flaig. Added to whatever you are retaining anally, I'm surprised you can walk. You are the only one banging on about Labour, and quite frankly you are beginning to look very silly.

I would credit your "topical" behaviour locally, though, which is following in the footsteps of the sell-out puppets who lead your Party nationally. You are obviously enjoying the support you are getting from local Tories like Mr "Pop in the comment then run away" Wells. As I said to you before, while you pretend to attack Tory politicians, you roll over and go all gooey when you gain their attention and clearly feel a forlock-tugging respect for them when they come and engage with you.

Quite touching, really. Again, you do make me laugh.
