The big event

Good wishes for the latest royal marriage Hurrah!

I just hope our popular press keep off the case of this couple, I cannot help think that previous royal marriages might have lasted longer, had it not been for intrusive press coverage.

PS I'm not in favour of the Royal Family but hope this couple don't get buried by salacious coverage by that media group owned by Australia's first family who are also unelected less appealing but more influential.

A boring post I know but I'm all blogged out tonight!

Mrs Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, just doesn’t have the right ring to it, does it ?

  3. Does seem a bit silly why they bothered changing their name to Windsor or that they are 12th cousins

  4. Best of luck to the young couple and let us all hope the media give them a chance rather than perpetually looking for flaws and cracks in the union.

The Queen has done a great job during difficult times for this country and now we have the prospect of a modernised royal family to carry us into the future.

See the harbinger of gloom pitched in as always and this time with his German ancestry bit. He might have missed it but most of Europe's royal families are inter related and it does not stop them being figure heads for their respective nations. As another commentator said, how many of us are pure?

I have German ancestry way back but it did not stop my grand father and father in their turn fighting for this country in the two world wars.

  5. I have a feeling this young lady will come to regret this decision, as William's unfortunate mother did.

yep just another breeder with blood ties

Wills and Kate, kissing cousins! How the Royal lovebirds are related thanks to a Tudor tyrant so bloodthirsty he's been airbrushed from history

  7. I am sure many couples would find they are related, especially those from similar locality backgrounds, but most of us don't trace our ancestry as far back as the royals, so are none the wiser.

As to the misery who said Kate will probably come to regret this decision., nothing like putting the mockers on them from the outset. Many marriages end in divorce but let us hope this one is of the survivor variety.

By the way, I bet Di regretted taking up with Dodi more!

  8. (watch what they try to slip through or conceal behind the media hysteria that is sure to follow)
Who is talking divorce, everyone knows why Diana came to a sticky end?

  9. 1:16 PM, agree entirely.

We all know she took up with an Egyptian playboy of ill repute, then got in a car with him late at night and driven by his employee, who was well over the limit. Tough luck but partly self inflicted by keeping the wrong company.

All of which should not detract from today's happier news.

Tough luck ? or bumped off ?

  11. The unmasking of Anon 3:01 reveals that he is none other than that Al Fayed chap who used to own Harrods. No doubt the whole thing was down to a bunch of freemasons in a white old French car that managed to overtake, and then force off the road, a Merc travelling at speed in a tunnel.

I blame it on the closing of Haine Road hospital and care in the community!

  12. Please, oh please, let not this happy announcement of a young couples forthcoming nuptials result in yet another round of conspiracy theories over the unfortunate Diana's demise.

Not only does this mar what should be a joyous announcement, one which I am sure would have delighted Princess Diana if she had still been with us, but these MI6 plots have been worked to death. Let it rest for everyone's sake.

  13. We now have months of royal wedding in our face that's going to cost a fortune, when we in u.k all face bleak time re cuts and loss of jobs and all before christmas. Not that important news ever makes front page news we will get even less now.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Has the previous misery not considered the amount of business the royal wedding will generate. Not just all the souvenirs, but the boost to the hotel and restaurant trade, the visitors flooding into UK and spending their money. It is something for a depressed nation, after the grey years of Brown and Labour, to celebrate and we could do with cheering up.

Some will wallow in misery over this wedding as they do over airport expansion, art galleries or attempts to correct our budget deficit but, then, there is just no pleasing some folk.

  15. Unemployed English Girl to Wed Soldier from Welfare Family

"Her parents can't be overly happy. She has been largely unemployed since she left school and is now marrying someone who has been on welfare most of his life. With the new government's promise to cut housing benefit and force those who repeatedly turn down work into manual labour I do worry for them."

  16. Not only sick but decidely unfunny with it. She works in the family business and he flies rescue helicopters. What do you do 5:45 apart from wind everyone up on various blogs with your ridiculous comments and conspiracy teories.

Doesn't happiness figure in your life at all?

  17. I would say that there is enough evidence in the public domain to suggest that the present day monarchy was placed to do exactly what is being done today. This has been a long term scam against this country and the whole truth needs to be assimilated by those that hold the monarchy in high esteem, whom
may well be happy to pay for this wedding, many will not be .

  18. Excellent post Anon 5.45. Very funny - and true.

  19. Good for the economy, my foot!
According to the CBI a bank holiday "attracts a cost of £6bn".
A few international airlines and hotel chains will be pleased but the leaders of industry will be angry with rage.
AS taxpayers we cant be to pleased. 30,000 KCC workers alone having a day off will cost £3 millions in wages.

    ReplyDelete
  20. A day off will damage the economy but how would we know in Thanet? According to the forecasters of impending doom on the political left of our isle, the place will be over populated with housing benefit refugees from London by then. Since they are already on permanent days off an extra holiday will make no difference.

See our national obsession with celecbrity and sex has also reared itself in an earlier comment wherein some scribe has decided the young lady is HOT. Neat maybe, well dressed definitely, not unattractive even but HOT, come on, for she is hardly Playboy material, thankfully.

    ReplyDelete
  21. You certainly will know in Thanet even though the unemployment rate is high and will increase regardless of whether there is an influx of unemployed. With 70,000 in work on a average wage of £17,000 pa, a day off will cost somebody £4,900,000. This wedding is looking a bit rich.

  24. Great clip, bang on the money.

The way things are shaping over at JP Morgan, these kids really might end up on welfare.

  25. Sorry 3:56, I should have added a disclaimer that those with a double figure IQ would not understand it's significance.

For anyone else, with an ounce of brains, fill yer boots!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Perhaps the point 3:56 was making, albeit with a certain lack of good manners, was simply, "what the XXXX has JP Morgan got to do with the couple's engagement?"

As always you pursue your own agenda regardless what the rest of us are trying to discuss.

  27. Well 9:43, you would need to check out who the major shareholders are to know that.

  28. OK then, if there is a link, in the interest of keeping us less well informed folk up to speed, how about telling us what it is.
