James Murdoch lets staff take the wrap

It seems that Murdoch, in closing the News of the World, is making journalists take the can for News International and its immoral and illegal activities of NOTW, I find it incredible that senior management did not know about journalists practices and I be surprise if that was not a majority opinion.

I'd a guess that News International are very cynical people and will probably publish a new Sunday paper, employing staff on lower pay and poorer conditions, also the fear engender by this will keep journalists in line when dealing with the Murdoch's.

A look at the Sun newspaper today shows you all you need to know the Murdoch business practice, the story is almost hidden on the front page, you have to turn to pages 6 & 7 to find any information, presumably editorial staff don't wish to upset Murdoch.

The News of the World tainted as it is, forms part of the British Sunday as much say as the roast dinner, News International have in my opinion shown scant regard for British life, which to be honest is why Rupert Murdoch and his family should not be allowed any further influence than they already have in British media.

  1. Tony,
On a few occasions I totally agree with you, this is one of those such moments. Instead of the people responsible for these intrusions into folks privacy, those who worked hard for the N.O.W will be the ones to suffer.
I am not a reader of the N.O.W., but can see a bare faced PR exercise when I see one.

  2. The reason NoW is closing is because the advertisers have deserted it and it's no longer viable.
You can thank ECR for this! He has been very busy on twittter contacting all the advertisers and urging them to take their business elsewhere.

What the public think is not on the radar of News International. Its how they can get control of Sky is the real game. NoW with just a turnover of £38 millions is just chicken feed. Its not the money that News International papers make that is important to them but the sway they have over the general public's opinions and the power this gives them with government.

  3. I was going to make a principled stand and cancel the news of the world this weekend, perhaps even the ST.

And then slink back in a few months time, now I want to save the bloody thing, still I have to say its never been the same since it went tabloid, and when did they last expose a vicar or scout leader?

  4. Wouldn't waste my time reading any of the main stream or local garbage its just full of crap just like the black box that leads people from the truth on their wall
we all know the truth when we hear it and we will rarely hear or read it because its all by design they hope to keep us far to busy with our own lives to care about anything else or anybody

now for the real news and a honest man unlike 'murdoch' and the rest of the low life who conceal rather than reveal

  5. Tesco Arlington. Just what Margate needs. Remind me not to try and drive along the sea front once it's open.

  6. Ironic that Peter breaks the Tesco news on this thread. Not only are the main political parties in bed with Rupert Murdoch, they also like to share a duvet with Tesco.

  7. Tesco's are into everything cars, double glazing, mobiles etc, maybe they will see a gap for a sunday newspaper.

  9. I think I have only ever bought the N.O.W. once and I shall not mourn at its demise. As for it being as much a part of Sunday as roast dinner, not in my house. I must say I hope the poweers to be question the whole Sky issue. I was shot down when I supported the Politician who said it should never go to Murdock, now it hass been shown maybe he was right .

  11. Can't really call it pornography. A series of dreary fat birds with big bums. Bore-ography maybe.

  12. Interesting Malapropism in the title of this thread. Suspect you meant "taking the rap" but given the supposed prevalence of the Devils snuff amongst the London Fifth Estate maybe "wrap" is more appropriate!

  14. Think "wrap" was probably more appropriate anyway, bet there was a lot of depressed snorting going on around the byeways of Old Wapping last night

  15. Tony, to be fair Peter does have a point. You seem to have lost interest in Thanet since your election attempt.
