Why we need elected Police Chiefs

I often wonder just what the purpose of Kent's Police authority is and one thing is for sure it's not to curb expenditure on Luxury cars for top bods, if today's front page storyin the Kent on Sunday is any thing to go by.

The government are in favour of elected chiefs, who might just curb such expenditure, however here in Kent the establishment are quite happy to keep the status quo I wonder why.

  1. Are you up for election then Tony? or have you somebody in mind from Thanet's good and greats?

  2. Is it not bad enough to suffer posturing and unfulfilled electioneering promises from our politicians at election time without going down the same road with the police chiefs. Maybe we should elect the generals and admirals. How about electing a few brain surgeons whilst at it.

It all sounds a bit too American for my liking and since when did elections stop those elected granting themselves posh cars, grace and favour apartments, freebie trips to the sun and untold expenses.

  3. Exactly 8:43. They'll say anything and then when they become elected and realise what they get for "free" they just line up with the other pigs at the trough and chow down.

  4. Why do we need public servants who really work for a 'private corporation' for hire being elected or driving around in fancy cars paid for by the public ?

It really does appear that these are getting above their station along with many other public employees.

  5. Worldly baubles in lieu of their soul is scant recompense for an eternity in the hot place.

How about we sack them all and elect a couple of local constables to walk the beat?

  6. What a load of bullocks... lets keep the system that works and keep mad people like Tony from any semblance of power!

  7. 7 42 at this point in time there is no need to panic as currently I have no plans for world domination.

To be honest this posting was rather hastily constructed but any how I do intended at some time to explain why Kent Police authority is a waste of money and serves the usual suspects in Kent rather than the hard working and long suffering taxpayers, I must say though I am thoroughly tired of Anne Barnes constant justification of the authority.

  8. Well it is not a load of bollocks. The power of the state to appoint constables is on loan from the parishes. It remains open to the parishes to hold annual elections for constables. And this may well be the way to go with ending the state monopoly on "Social control". The "Britstapo" (State Police)is failing. There is growing support for the idea of electing parish volunteer constables to uphold the peace and to compel the state police to winf their necks in and carry out serious crime inquiries and event policing.

  9. These elected volunteers... what sort of powers would they have? how much training would they have in comparison to a uniformed officer?

Comparing the Gestapo with the UK Police force....errrr?

  10. What is being suggested is instead of. local police authorties a boss is directly elected perhaps with more of an incentive to do the best for the electorate

  11. Rob, they would have the same powers as every other citizen, just as they are supposed to have now.

If our right to bear arms was restored you would see the crime rate and prison population plummet like a lead balloon. But of course, the powers that be would not want that at all.

Tony, it is clear that something needs to be done, and at first glance this seems a reasonable idea, but the fact that the government are pushing this can only mean they are planning on using it to their advantage, rather than ours.

  12. Strange comment, Anon, for I thought the members that make up the government were elected and answerable to their constituents. All this them and us smacks of anarchy when, what you really mean, is that the elected government are not of your personal choosing.

For the expert on police powers, the constabluary have considerably more powers to detain, search and arrest than ordinary subjects.

  13. 10:56, the key word here is 'should'.

The elected government should be representing us. In fact, they are powerless and just following orders from the real government, which never changes.

The police force 'should' not have more or less power than any other citizen. The fact that they do, goes against the law (of the land).

You see we have all been conned into cowering under admiralty law, which is commercial code that applies only to shipping and commerce.

We are being conned BIG time.

  14. Yes! We need elected police chiefs so we can bribe them!!

  15. For those who dont know, this is how policy used to be spelt Police. A Police Force that enforces policies not the rule of Law.

The puppet governments are and have been run for hundreds of years by the 'Crown'City of London NOT the Queen Elizabeth (Windsor)who is (supposed to be) the defender of the common law. There is a huge difference, the former being a private club that really runs everything from behind the scenes including the courts and is nothing more than a private bar guild, these are the real puppet string pullers.

All this information is hidden in plain sight, so what you are really voting for is just a change of puppet.

  16. Increasing numbers believe this is exactly how ALL FORCES operate and unless you come up against the "system" you are lead to believe that they are not paid criminals themselves. This shows what really happens and can only be the mere tip of a massive iceberg.

  17. Wouldnt trust anything elected in Kent to tie their own shoe laces let alone run the police especially after reading this, looks to me like the real criminals are already running the public services all from the the old boys network.
