A thought I often have, after hacking through London on the way home is just before I reach the Blackwall Tunnel, is this block of flats that hove into view on the junction with Commercial Road and the tunnel approach the most hideous in Britain.
Even Arlingtion looks warm and friendly in comparison.
Looks like Balfron Tower http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balfron_Tower ,designed (and briefly live in) by that nice Mr Goldfinger. Some far worse ones down Kidbrooke way.
ReplyDeletethat should be 'lived' in. Tired fingers.
ReplyDeleteFor the 'ugliest' building, try the indoor market in Birmingham
ReplyDeleteYes but they are'nt slap on the seafront-Arlington House is the first thing you see as you enter Margate and it is like a slum in the sky.I hope that tesco can revamp that whole area....
ReplyDeleteFound your blog by mistake, but had to comment. This was my area growing up. I appreciate this form of sculpture both as a defining part of my childhood landscape, and a snapshot of social history. What a shame it is now looked upon as a hideous blight on the picturesque drive to Margate.
