Tony Blair returns home
oblivious to the national mood

I understand that Tony Blair, has just returned from his summer holidays at Cliff Richard's Villa.

A lot has happened during his holiday, and after three weeks it should be good to get home, and for Tony Blair it probably is. For me he is exhibiting the classic signs of having been in power for too long.

There seems to be any amount of discord in his own new Labour family, but he appears to be completely oblivious, to it, and the uncertainty created by his commitment, to retire from the leadership before the next election.

It seems incredible arrogance or indecision, that having given a clear indication that he will resign during this present session of government, that he does not think it fit, to give a timetable so that there can be an orderly transfers of power.

Ignoring his own political family problems, today he has pontificated on children who are a menace to society, these are children who presumably have no clear leadership or goals, maybe he should look at his own unruly Labour Party and give them some direction before wasting time, on yet another meaningless initiative.

To any observer, the Labour Party is falling apart as Blair dithers over his own future departure.

I can only speculate, but I imagine when he looks at himself in the mirror, he sees a world leader of great vision, when I see him on television I have a picture of David Cameron a weak leader, of no vision, taking over at number 10 after the next election.

You bang on about how bad Tony Blair is and how important that he tell everyone when he is going to step down so there will be a smooth transfer - like you care! - you then go on to state that you would rather see Cameron in power. Make your flippin mind up! Which ever party is in power you always have snipers like yourself making personal comments ... but when your preferred party gets in you go all quiet and adore without reservation everything they do! Then the other set of snipers show their heads above the parapet and take pot shots. Surely you remember the days of the Tories who bled this country dry - people going out of business and losing their houses ... yeah lets go back to that regime where the rich get considerably richer and the poor are just left by the wayside ... lets put a cabinet together of toadies who dare not disagree with the leader for fear of losing their job ... I have to admit that the calibre of politician in this country is very low ... they will sell their own children to get a vote and once they are in they have no duty to vote with their conscience. Watch them on TV - you can tell when they tell a lie - their mouth moves. We have an incredibly low turn out when it is time to vote - why? Because the vast majority of people in this country think it is pointless - their vote means nothing - because whoever they elect will just join that gentlemans club in Westminster and forget about who put him there. They are never accountable!
Yep it is open season on the Labour Party ... but if the opposition get in (after making ANY promise and half baked scheme for your vote) then the merry go round will start all over again.

  2. Im pretty sure the last paragraph was accusing both Cameron and Blair of being weak leaders of no vision, thus the comment "taking over"... Tony's been critical of the Tories on more than one occassion.

  3. Anonymous 4 51 PM when I wrote this particular posting, I had just finished a 14 hour working day which involve driving for five to six hours, with seven hours tough physical work in between the journey to work and home, therefore my posting was not as clear as it could have been and indeed re reading I have to agree with James Maskell who despite my appalling style has been able to decode my scribbling.

I suggest you, take a more thorough gander and you might just get the impression that it will be unlikely for me to vote Tory in any circumstances. Most of my postings are more considered and a little different from the propaganda style of thinking, which you would appear to be influenced by.

Incidentally my working day has been roughly the same old sh?t today, what have you done today!.

  4. 4.51pm! Oh dear! My dear chap, remove the beam from your eyes and jettison your prejudice about the Tories versus Labour. Are you utterly unaware that the gap between rich and poor in this country has grown wider under your so called Labour party and that after 9 years iof a Labour Govt I am living in penury still as an OAP? My uncle marched from Jarrow and would be horrified to see a Labour Party throwing away its Socialist principles just to gain and retain power. I would rather see a Tory Govt being Tory than a Labour Govt being Tory and incompetent with it.

  5. Anonymous 12:24 AM not sure if you're one and the same as 4:41pm, I happen to be aware of many things, yes the Labour Party is not the same, as it might have been in the 1930s, Labour have had to be pragmatic, the world no longer, has any faith in the Stalinist approach to economics because quite simply the command economy, just gives us poverty for all, as does pure capitalism.

The whole point I was making in my original post, was the fact that Tony Blair is oblivious and so arrogant as to ignore the question of his retirement, Id rather new labour than some tory wide boys OK.

Now obviously you do not understand, that this attitude is alienating vast swathes of the public, or at least those who, take 10 minutes out of the day to vote once every five years.

Refusal by Blair to plan his exit, is not surprisingly resulting in discontent with Labour supporters who are already being told who the next leader will be, without being told when the change will be made.
