CREDIT CRUNCH GONE TO THE DOGS

Could you give this little fella a home? Thought not, like me you’d probably prefer a dog that went woof woof rather than snarl assuming it doesn’t just get its teeth into you straight away.

I guess that most of us don’t have the personality flaw that requires, ownership of a dog that’s mostly jaw teeth and muscle, that commands respect only due to its potential to maim. Owners are now abandoning the poor animals (I doubt they’d thank those breeders who bought them in to existence, if they could reason which they can’t).

Over the last year of 334 dogs taken to kennels in East Kent a staggering 104 have been Staffordshires’ with only 47 being reunited with their owners.

These dogs are dangerous and if the owners are irresponsible to allow them to wander free, I think local councils should destroy them humanely as soon as is possible.

And anyone who thinks that dogs like these are safe and are somehow conditioned into becoming dangerous dogs, capable of attacking children, is just feeble minded, just don’t forget that people are far more important than any animals.

  1. Staffie owners can be a pain. I have learnt, hereabouts, if an aggressor dog off the lead goes for my softie labradoodle just to release her. If the aggressor chases then the doodle eventually hurts it. So far she has body slammed two rottweilers, two staffies, one jack russel whippet cross and one jack russel. None were seriously hurt but none of them got up to resume the aggression.

She runs and runs and if they daft enough to keep chasing and going for her (IE Their owners do nothing to bring them under control) eventually their muscles cramp whilst the doodle is still full of spring. Then the aggressor becomes the pursued and the doodle the pursuer. Just one coursing pass and the aggressor is upended into a fall they cannot breakfall. Legs get damaged a bit. Aggressor immobilised. Doodle runs back for her lead back on.

  2. We could export dog meat (not joking!) to China to solve the problem and to make money at the same time! its the kindest thing for unwanted dogs!

  3. Didn't you know - that's why they want to build the China Gateway!

  4. I agree regarding using them for meat. I lived in the far east and I have eaten dog many times; we need to be more open minded; Hindus think we are wrong to eat Beef.

These are changing times and I think that we should also introduce dog meet in the UK, as well as exporting it. We live in a multi-cultural society; not only that, dog tastes lovely!

  5. As you know we at Bignews Margate tolerate free speech but Mr Puss has asked me, to make it clear that he finds talk of dog meat distressing and will pull the plug if comments continue to descend into barbarism.

  6. tony: do you eat meat? if the answer is yes, then you are wrong to judge others just because they are open minded to other cultures. My wife is from the far east. And I would allow our son to make his own mind up regarding the eating a different kinds of meat.

My religion thinks of alcohol as barbarism, but I would respect your right to talk about it; do you think that your cat's feelings are more important than our families? I believe that my cat would fully understand my point, however, I have no way of knowing for sure as cats can't talk.

You need to know that working class Englishman, such as Tony, almost always use the selective free speech line, when they feel unable to address issues of culture and race. However, blogs are answerable to race laws, in the same way that the BBC are. I would not like to see Tony make the same mistake as Kilroy and others. If I thought that he was racist, which I don't believe he is, I would report him.

  8. tony, and other posters, i find the discussion about what are pets/part of the family in this country as a form of food, as disgusting.

  9. I agree with you Tony-I am now terrified of taking my little spaniel out for a walk as unlike the labradoodle she cant fight back. All these dogs need to be on leads and muzzled-what was once a very pleasurable hobby for me to walk our lovely coast with my little spaniel has turned into me constantly on the lookout to make sure we are not being approached by aggressive animals.
