Press Release From John Worrow

John Worrow asked if I could put up his side of the issue with Himself & Cllr Mark Nottingham in fairness I am happy to oblige.

Cllr Mark Nottingham is on the pay roll of a Labour Party Euro-MP from London, and as a professional political manager is clearly very familiar with the work undertaken by New Labour Spin Doctors.

I am a parish councillor, a community volunteer, and serve my village on an unpaid part time basis.

Recently the Vice Chairman of Birchington Parish Council, asked me to stand in for him at a public meeting of KIACC (Kent International Airport Consultative Committee) as he was unable to attend; the leader of KCC was also unable to attend.

At the meeting, the Chairman of KIACC proposed a motion to report KCC's leader to the county council's Standards Committee for being unable to attend the meeting. I voted against this, as I did not believe it to be a standards issue.

A number of Labour district councillors were in the public area and it appears reported back to Mark Nottingham, after which he span his own web report.

 As a Political manager for NEW LABOUR, Mark Nottingham is no doubt very good at spin, after all he is on the pay role of a London Euro-MP;

as a voluntary parish councillor who voted the way I chose at a meeting, I wonder why I am singled out for attack?

Is Cllr Nottingham afraid to attack the likes of the leader of KCC as he has a greater power to bite back?

A number of Liberal and Conservative MP's have been victims of professional SPIN DOCTORS who belittle and ridicule their victims.

Why won't Mark Nottingham pick on someone his own political size, why is he so afraid of a part time village councillor?

There will be no standards complaint; I cannot stomach further waste of public money on the politics of the playground. Bully on, Cllr Nottingham, the only person you are belittling is yourself.

John Worrow

Parish Councillor for the Village of Birchington

  1. This seems a fair assessment of John's position and at the end of the day politics is about people, so lets all move on.

Politics will always be personalised but hopefully John and Mark are sensible enough to draw a line under this.

  7. I think that Mark Nottingam should be ashamed of himself.

  8. Politics is as much about people as it is about policy, Often I write about individuals and regret what I say, I frequently read about my own short comings but more often than not I have a detached so what attitude.

I'd be staggered if Mark Nottingham was bullying or malicious.

  14. The discussion on a Blogs protocol is not 'political' and comes from the Chief Executive at TDC. It is not, as Cllr Nottingham argues, some kind of conspiracy to "Close Down" Labour Blogs.

The council has been dismayed by some of the inflamatory and insulting language used freely on Blogs published by several individuals. What we should be discussing surrounds the question of responsible self expression in an adult manner, which treats others with respect.

Having discussed this with the council's monitoring officer, I signed-up to that principle, adding the occasional 'tongue in cheek' remark in good humour. In the interest of professional conduct, I would encourage all councillors who happen to blog, as well as Cllr Nottingham and his colleagues to do the same.

  17. Things have got a little heated, therefore I will moderate further comments, clearly politics is a rough game, and some of the comments, step over the normally polite discussions found on these pages.

It is clear to me that John Worrow, felt victimised to some extent, whether or not that's the case, its not for me to judge, but it is the case that I feel he should have a fair opportunity to respond to both my blog, as well as comments made by Mark Nottingham.

It seems to me that some contributors, are happy to indulge in behaviour not dissimilar to that which they had accuse others of, so please make intelligent comments.

I don't always read comments that have been placed on my website, due to other commitments or because some occur months after my original posting, therefore I would ask anyone who finds defamatory or offensive remarks to email me at Tonyflaig@Gmail.com

On Simon Moores point concerning TDC's mission to create a blogging policy, it is quite clear that such a policy would of course be against the public interest, curtail the freedom of speech, impinge on democracy and of course give officers such as the chief executive Richard Samuel and his band of monitoring officers more power than is necessary in a democracy.

If the chief executives need some project, to work on of my I suggest, that he has a damn good look at the planning department, with a special interest in applications for planning on property the council doesn't own, failing to inform residents adjacent to the meridian the village, that plans have changed resulting in people's privacy being taken away.

So once the chief executives resolved the poor decision making of his own officers in planning and the resulting disrepute of thanet district council, then may be, he'd be in a position to advise on standards!

Please note this comment is voice dictated so may contain er .. cock ups
